What about Y2k and the second coming of Christ that was supposed to happen in 2000?

But I get it, we're all royally screwed and should get the Kool-Aid ready. The world is so awful and it's never going to get better because politics have poisoned everything, the leaders are all megalos, and 99% of humans are stupid scumbags.

That's great
It starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes
An aeroplane
And Lenny Bruce is not afraid
Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn
World serves its own needs, don't misserve your own needs
Speed it up a knox, speak, grunt, no, strength
The ladders start to clatter with fear fight, down, height
Wire in a fire, representing seven games
And a government for hire and a combat site
Left her and wasn't coming in a hurry with the Furies
Breathing down your neck
Team by team, reporters baffled, trump, tethered, crop
Look at that low plane, fine, then
Uh-oh, overflow, population, common food
But it'll do, save yourself, serve yourself
World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed
Tell me with the rapture and the reverent in the right, right
You vitriolic, patriotic, slam fight, bright light
Feeling pretty psyched

[Chorus]
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
And I feel fine

[Verse 2]
Six o'clock, TV hour, don't get caught in foreign tower
Slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn
Lock him in uniform, book burning, blood letting
Every motive escalate, automotive cinerate
Light a candle, light a votive, step down, step down
Watch your heel crush, crushed, uh-oh, this means
No fear, cavalier renegade steer clear
A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives
And I decline

[Chorus]
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
And I feel fine (I feel fine)

[Instrumental Break]

[Chorus]
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
And I feel fine
[Verse 3]
The other night I dreamt of knives, continental drift divide
Mountains sit in a line, Leonard Bernstein
Leonid Brezhnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom
You symbiotic, patriotic, slam but neck
Right? Right

[Chorus]
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
And I feel fine

[Bridge]
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
And I feel fine

[Chorus]
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
And I feel fine
[Outro]
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the world as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
And I feel fine

And I feel fine. :skull:

Here's a proper global anthem for the end of the world.

If it is then it's just a self-fulfilling prophesy, humans can change that. Unless it's a meteor as big as the one that wiped out the dinosaurs or getting sucked in a black hole or something the world will keep going with or without us.

Humans aren't going to change because they're too stupid. :x :x :x

From what archaeology and genetics is telling us, we are all descended from genocidal, psychopathic war mongering bands of migratory groups (not gentle, peaceful folk). Its taken 30-40,000 years to bring these groups together into nation states. Looking after our personal self-interest and the interests of our "group" is hard coded in our DNA.

People have been saying that since the time of Christ and before. the Bible says only the Father knows when it will happen. Anyone who is making doomsday predictions is likely affiliated with a cult or is a serious gold bug I get it at that times are bad but things have been way worse in the past. Koresh Jim Jones Marshall Applewhite and the Jehovah's witnesses predicted it and failed because we are still here. I am a amillennial preterist because I believe most of Revelation was referring to the first century and has already happened. I believe we have been in the end times for the past 2000 years because I believe they started when Jesus went back to Heaven.

I might be showing my ignorance, but isn't the 2nd coming of Christ imminent? i.e. end of times...

Christ actually is a metaphor for "gods" who came to every tribe on the planet and taught them civilisation and then went back to heaven. And like all other gods Jesus promised to return.

Strange days man
I sort of have an affinity for the world and all it's occupants
I've grown fond of it over the last few years so I'm sort of at a point where I wanna enjoy it but I can also see how it's changed direction and I feel like all I can do is try and adapt to it

But I'm interested in the future so I don't want it to end...not yet

I guess the world will end. But probably not today, tomorrow, next week or for the next couple of thousand years. People talking about signs, religious prophecies saying "this is the end of times!" have most likely been around since at least the stone age. I think they are better just to be ignored.

We generally believe in the church of Christ that Revelation is symbolic and metaphorical. We believe that the end of the world in Revelation was the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD. We believe the Mark of the Beast to be stuff like emperor worship and stuff like that. I believe Jesus will come back at some point and it could be any second but it will come like a thief in the night. We believe that we have been in the End Times for the past 2000 years when Christ went back to Heaven. Revelation even says thats its symbolic or something like that. I dont buy the whole Left Behind take on the End Times.
