It might have once started off as a good thing, but nevertheless, it is today little more than a delusional hippy commune.

The Danish government could take them over without breaking a sweat. There lies the problem.

I mean theyr not even fully recognized as a nation or anything yet, and theyr not just a self appointed regional government working in co-operation with the Danish feds or anything.

I like Denmark. I had four Danish aupairs consecutively when I was growing up. They were cool. From what I experienced, their personalities/sense of humour is very British.

At first I was going to say... becaue it's too crowded.
s
But then I realized that not everyone is here at the same time.

You could live here if you wanted to... I don't think anyone would stop you... except maybe the Danish Government. :D

I would rather live in some place like Solheimar - sorry the English page from this link does not seem to be working - I always get an 'access denied error.'

Solheimar is a therapeutic community composed of "so-called abled and disabled"' people with various conditions - many down's syndrome as I remember but not limited to that. They produce much of their own food, and have several businesses to be economically self-reliant (although they may get some support from the government, I think). They produce a variety of crafts which are well regarded in Iceland, and are often bought or given as gifts. They have greenhouses and a coffee shop open to the public. They are part of the international ecovillage network.

Solheimar is probably boring in comparison with Christiania. The land they are on is not in dispute - it was not occupied by squatters, but established legally in 1930. Solheimar is not known for the sales or promotion of illegal drugs - whether we agree or disagree with the current laws, there is no question that if you want lots of special attention from the police then one good way to do that is to openly glorify something like illegal drugs. Solheimar doesn't care to be a country - they are trying to be a good community.

Solheimar is based on the philosophy of Rudolph Steiner and stresses organic agriculture. They have their own ideas about education, which is not so regimented as in the average school. Like Christiania, there is much in the way of theatre and the arts - this is not so over-professionalized, but is based on participation.

OK, here is a link to a different description of Solheimar in English.

From Wiki:

Quote:
On May 14, 2007 the police entered Christiania to demolish the abandoned Cigarkassen building, and were met by angry and scared Christianites who feared that the police were going to demolish other houses too. Road blocks were built and the trucks transporting what was left of the house was sabotaged so that it couldn't move. The police then entered the Freetown on a massive scale and were this time met by violent protesters who threw stones and shot fireworks at the police vehicles, and built barricades in the street outside the Christiania gate. The police used tear gas on the rioters, and a number of arrests were made.[2] One activist sneaked up behind the police commander, called Bjarne Bonelock among Christianites, and threw a bucket of urine and feces at him.[3] The police later had to retreat from Christiania. The riot continued over night as youths barricaded the entrances to Christiania and bombarded the police with stones and Molotov cocktails. After several failed attempts to storm the barricades the police ultimately had to give up and retreat. All in all over 50 Christianite-activists were arrested. The prosecutor is demanding them imprisoned on account that they may participate in further disturbances in Copenhagen which they say is "in a state of rebellion."[4]

Cigarkassen was rebuilt the following day, and the DJ collective Lækker Lytter threw its housewarming.

Doesn't sound like it to me.

Go for it, Richard.
