Information is inevitably lost when a person's political attitudes, opinions, theories, and beliefs are condensed to a few simple labels; but these labels do provide a starting point and a general idea of where a person stands. Choose the political descriptor that best fits you.

I'll pick socialism, as that seems to be the closest thing to democratic socialism. I personally like a lot of the ideas behind it and, as I mentioned in the 'Political Aspirations' thread, plan to write up a manifesto on what I'd do if I were in a position of power. My ideal system of government would incorporate tweaked democratic socialism in some way. So yes, that's me.

I am driving myself mad, but I think that I was last closest to some variant of libertarian.

Either socialist or Marxist. Maybe Marxist would go a bit far but call me a very convinced socialist.

I used to believe in total libertarianism. Now I'm ok with almost anything as long as the individual rights of everyone are protected.

Bah, depending on how one defines rights, one can make it so that only anarchist libertarianism is acceptable, or that only socialism is acceptable, heck, one might even be able to twist rights so that only fascism is a just state. I dunno, I have gotten into a lot of arguments on rights in the past so this difficulty in defining the protection of rights seems important to me.

You would have to define that.

I don't know if Reagan was really any of those things.

I make it up as I go along. I don't tie myself to any one thing.
