Aaron Edlin points out that Microsoft continues to profit at its users' expense by creating incompatibilities, and suggests that you think twice before asking Santa for a new Windows machine with Vista and Office 2007.

I am not sure. I think the biggest problem with window is that it tries to be backwords compatible.
Backwords compatability leeds to boatwere. That is why you would have a problem running windows XP on Pentium 500.

Why cant windows have it programms recompiled for newer versions instead, like they do of unix.
