I just saw an interesting piece of exorcisms and statanic cults in Italy on the Foreign Correspondent program on ABC TV (Oz). It is estimated that in Italy, there are over 650 known satanic cults, one that they interviewed the leader of had over a thousand members apparently. In Italy there is something of a growing trade in the occult and has been for some years.

Did anyone catch this program and had any thoughts on it? Or any thoughts on this topic in general.

I'm friends with a Wiccan. That, or Satanist. Or are they the same? I never get into religous conversations, they're taboo for most people.

I am not familiar enough with Wicca or Satanism to explain them, but they are definitely not the same thing.

wicca and satanism are very different things - wiccans don't "believe" in the devil/satan/whoever, for a start.

and satanism is completely different from devil worship, which is the headline-attracting bunch of power-hungry twits who need to grow up frankly.

i, like bec, don't know enough about satanism to start pontificating, so i shan't.

This is as good a source as any for you to find the differance between the two for yourself

Wicca:

Satanism:

However, Italian witchcraft (Stregheria) is a somewhat differant flavor than that practiced in English speaking countries.

And while we're at it, I might as well add another one for another Reconstructed Pre-Christian European religion for further contrast.

Last year I became interested in the New Age movement, yet Christ brought me back into his arms.
