Obama wins second site on Strip—but Clinton carries it
By Sun Staff · January 19, 2008 · 1:27 PM

Hillary Clinton has carried six of the nine at-large casino sites on the Strip, despite the influence of the Culinary Union. Clinton has carried at sites in the Flamingo, the Rio, Paris Las Vegas, New York New York, the Bellagio, and Wynn Las Vegas. Only the Mirage and Caesars have gone for Obama so far. The last site, the Mirage, is still voting. The first vote was 178 for Clinton and 153 for Obama and 3 for Edwards and three uncommitted. So on second round, that site, too, apparently will go for Clinton

Oddly, though, although Clinton got 51% of the Democratic vote, Obama will actually get more delegates from Nevada. Apparently it has something to do with the way caucuses are conducted there. <shrug>

I did learn part of the reason for Ron Paul's unusually strong showing in the Silver State, however, while watching ABC News. There's a popular brothel in Nevada, the Bunny Ranch, which is also featured in a series on HBO. One of the ladies there takes campaign contributions for Paul from her customers. She calls it "Pimpin' for Paul", and apparently it's quite a popular way for people to contribute...

actually, the Nevada delegates for either Clinton or Obama are not bound to vote that way at the convention, brokered or not. They are free to change their minds.

Misleading headline. The outcome was close and a Democratic caucus in one state is not America 'rejecting' a candidate.

Ron Paul coming in second place has a lot more to do with his 'No taxes on tips stance' and highly organized grassroots. They organize district by district now. Also, the official Ron Paul campaign has dropped some bucks in the Silver state on ads and stuff. Not to mention his ultra-consistent voting record and never falling away from his conservative principles. Less taxes, less big government, and more freedom returned to the people.

Ah, please Ron, save us all from the nightmare of the big government...the spying and all the other crazy ways in which they deprive us of our liberties on a daily basis...
