Republicans=lower taxes? FAT LIE!!
There seems to be some myth in circulation that, if everyone goes out and votes Republican, they'll see what they pay in taxes drop like a rock. It's like the tax-cut fairy will come and grant all your wishes: a house in the suburbs you fled to as part of your contribution to urban decay, a big front yard to dump so many gallons of water on that it's useless to try to keep up with the figures, a wife who had to marry you instead of aborting and moving on with her life after you got her drunk and knocked her up, and the queers you bullied all through high school living scared for their wits on top of suffering PTSD from the bruises you left them when you were brat. The American Dream, right?
Although this may be a reality in states like New York, in which there certainly is a strong tax-and-spend culture, this is not, more broadly speaking, the case. I love it when Republicans put their say into this discussion because they like to post up data on how much is actually spent per capita in taxes, and the implication is that you are somehow going to pay this if you were to move into a half-way decent neighborhood in Massachusetts working slightly above minimum wage. They love this because it doesn't take into account that those who live in these states tend to be far more affluent. They also like to point out the cost of living in some of the world's biggest, richest cities as if the state of New Jersey is nothing but a huge mass of tall buildings, condos, and resort communities. States with higher population densities are ALWAYS going to have a higher cost of living, and this is HARDLY something that can be blamed upon the Dems.
In fact, there really isn't a strong correlation between what you'd pay total in taxes, per your income, living in a similarly developed area in one of the so-called "blue states." You'd have a bunch of rich people up in the cities paying for you to send your lazy, do-nothing, underacheiving, trashy, gay-bashing kids to nice schools and maybe, if they somehow, by some miracle from heaven, get their act together, get an Ivy League education on some scholarship, but, with few exceptions, there is no real correlation. Here is the real data, ladies and gents:

Looks pretty scattered to me, with a few notable exceptions.
Oh, and what about those evil blue states, who just LOVE to con the federal government out of money for landscaping? We all remember when John McCain singled out California, the second-largest state in the Continental United States, as the most egregious pork-barrel spender for having some landscaping done on one of their highway systems. What a load of pork! No other state does that! Oh, wait, they do.

LOOK AT THE PIGGIES! LOOK AT THEM! SUUUUUEEE!! But here's a curveball for you: California is the third-smallest offender per capita on the entire chart, ladies and gentlemen! Oh, and you see John McCain down there at the bottom? Hehehehe, before you jump to any conclusions, look just a hair and a nudge to the right, where it shows where he stood LAST year. I guess it's just a coincidence that he's running for President this year, and he's got a history of making bold statements about pork fat. Look at this jerk's history, man! You really think this pinhead is one to talk about pork fat? The state of Fatso McCain has been getting prime cuts, people! By contrast, look at California's history: THEY'VE BEEN CLOSE TO THE BOTTOM RANKINGS FOR YEARS, YOU REPUBLICAN MORONS! And, by the way, the Republicans like to tout Alaska as a great state for the taxpayer. Oh, you're darned tootin'! They have it made! They've been ripping off the rest of their countrymen for years! They can keep their taxes so low because they have YOU paying their taxes for them, and you're such ret*ds that you actually believe that they're this great and exemplary example of "fiscal conservatism."
But this myth persists that Republicans are all about cutting taxes and saving money. Fiscal responsibility! Limited government! Those have been their slogans for decades, and nothing has ever come of it. Hey, you get the same thang if you go for a Democrat, but the difference is that they not only tell you so but exercise greater openess about what they're spending all that money ON. Do you really want to vote for someone who straight-out lies to your face through a television screen? Is having a comfortable lie to believe in really that important to you? No wonder you people are so addicted to religion.
You've been scammed.
Yea. Funny thing is the republicans can only significantly cut taxes for the top-most income brackets. They aren’t really about reducing the tax burden as much as much as flattening the tax. Problem is if we had a flat tax the government wouldn’t have enough revenue to pay for the things the GOP relies on.
They can argue on ideological grounds, but from a practical standpoint they can never deliver. It’s all smoke and mirrors, plastic carrots on sticks. I think all they really care about is staying in power.
("Conservative" means to conserve.)
Yeah, it's called making sure the BUDGET IS BALANCED, which despite the Republicans own rhetoric the Republicans don't seem to be able to do. Gee, those social democracies (social democrats being the European equivalent of American liberals) in Europe don't seem to have much trouble keeping their budgets balanced.
Republicans and Democrats are more similar than they are different. People just choose sides and cheer for their party and create an "Us vs them" sort of mentality. In choosing a side, you can choose one that claims to be for lower taxes or a balanced budget, but the side you cheer for can easily not give what they claim to support (and historically has). This isn't too surprising and is nothing new (and applies to both parties).
that is why I support the concept of centrism, boith parties suck
Here's some good articles:
Democrats’ Budget: Largest Tax Hike in U.S. History, Huge Spending Increases, No Reforms
http://www.house.gov/ryan/press_release ... budget.htm
House Dems Pushing for Largest Tax Increase in History
http://www.citizenlink.org/CLtopstories/A000004233.cfm
"The average tax hike per household would be more than $2,641 annually. In addition, the child tax credit would be reduced from $1,000 per child to $500, and the marriage penalty would be brought back into the tax code."
"a family of four earning $50,000 would see taxes go up 132 percent. A single parent with two children earning $30,000 would see taxes raised 67 percent."
What are Democrats planning to do with the money from these massive tax increases? Pay down the debt? Balance the budget? Don't count on it. They plan to spend it on welfare and social programs. Steal from the hardworking to redistribute their money to the lazy, welfare queens, and others who don't deserve it to buy votes for the Demoncrat party.
With Democrats, it's always TAX and SPEND, TAX and SPEND, TAX and SPEND.
If you want to keep the money your earn and not have it stolen from you, vote Republican. I know there are a few borrow and spend liberal Republicans which is one reason why it's best to look at the candidates and not vote just based on party.
the problem is that we let the checks and balances go.
not to mention for those who b***h about clinton's spending...guess who was in control of congress?? THAT'S RIGHT! REPUBLICANS!! ! so they were the ones passing bills on to the president to be passed or vetoed. and then bush comes in and the spending goes even more out of control and increases in government size almost equal that of clinton's reign.
really, we should have a democratic congress and a bare-bones libertarian president.
think...dem congress with ron paul president (minus paul's views on creationism and abortion).
and line item veto.
but the only problem is that i'd only trust a couple people with line item veto power in the seat of presidency and that'd be too much power for the schmucks who get in office today (any of the current candidates, or bush 1.3 or former pres clinton or bush 1.0 or reagan or pretty much any president within the last 100 years).
Conservatives have little interest in conserving natural resources. And they certainly aren't financially conservative. But since a word means exactly what you want it to mean - (nothing more, nothing less), then you can say they are conservative.

Neither are they conserving morals too much either, well, at least in airport restrooms.

Republicans are rarely actually conservative in today's America. In the 80's I was happy to be a Republican (even though I was way too young to vote at the time) and now I wouldn't be caught dead supporting the Republican Party. Not that I'd be caught dead supporting the Democratic Party either, but you get the point.
Hey, Zendell: Stick it up your ass.

I'm about sick of conservatives. They're parasites, man! Look at how much money these guys are draining from our pockets! These hypocrites claim that they're being robbed, but who is really being robbed, here? Where do the parasites live? They live in the red states! They all live in the effing red states! That's where all the piggies live, ladies and gents!
AND THEY'RE TOO STUPID TO REALIZE IT!!
You know what I find amusing?
When Bush first got into office, he initiated a car tax (registration) relief. Many, MANY americans received checks in the mail for several hundred dollars. I didn't see anyone publicly burning their tax relief checks in the name of hating GWB, no, they took the money and happily spent it.
You don't hear about that.
So here it comes again. There is tax relief coming in May to the tune of (something like) $600 per adult and $300 per child. That's $1800 for this household.
Do you think any public check burnings will take place?
Hmm, guessing not.
Oh, but they'll continue to b***h about him as they're spending the money
