Legato, your YouTube videos prove nothing beyond your own views. There are compounds in the desert where so-called prophets run their sex-cults. That is all I want to know about FLDS. Haven't you been watching CNN?

Biologically, nothing wrong with polygamy ....most species are polygamist and humans are polygamists by nature.

The freaky part I heard about Mormons that old men get married with several little child girls....now that's really freaky.

In the modern world, polygamy simply does not work. We've all seen the disastrous results. Not good at all.

What are the disastrous results? The wives fighting each other over who is to make the sandwich?

More like the "wives" being beaten, sexually assaulted, intimidated. The children sexually molested. The whole thing is designed to let men get away with felony assault, rape, terror, and forcible confinement. Polygamy made Warren Jeffs a superstar.

Who the heck has enough hard c_ck anyway to satisfy several wives?!
Better buy a lifetime subscription to Viagra if you try polygamy.
(And plan to die early, from all the Viagra.)

Warren Jeffs' branch of FLDS is particularly nasty. There are other branches of it that allow polygamy, but the wives are at least all adults and consent to any marriages that occur. Jeffs not only was marrying off girls as soon as they hit puberty, but would take men's wives away and give them to someone else like cattle if someone did something that he didn't like. In addition, the sect was ejecting any young men who showed the slightest hint of independence in order to increase the ration of women/men.
Under the Banner of Heaven, by (iirc) Jon Krakauer, makes a sickly fascinating read for anyone interested.

Needless to say, the LDS church does not condone polygamy. It does, however, set up its adherents to believe ridiculous things: to expect god to speak directly to them, and to expect prophets to exist in their own day and age. Most religions offer at least a few absolutely crazy things for their adherents to believe in, but the LDS church offers a bigger package than most.

that's not entirely true. the mainstream sect of mormonism doesn't practice polygamy but there are many sects that still do.

but what about the magic underwear?

No, it's not the same thing and you know it. We are not discussing the Catholic Church in this thread.

Firstly, my mormonism video provided only fact, I steered clear of my opinion as best I could.

Secondly, FLDS have no connection with LDS, they were excommunicated because they are freaks. They don't even think LDS prophets are prophets, they have their own - which completely 100% seperates them from LDS members.

Thirdly, the magic underwear:

When mormons marry, they have a ritual they call being "sealed in the temple", where a man and a woman are joined in marriage for eternity. This is the only way to still be married in heavan and to able to enter the highest kingdom of heavan (the Celestial kingdom), apparently. Part of this ritual inside the temple includes chanting and saying magic words, as well as receiving your eternal name, the one god will call you by.
Another part of this ritual is their garments (magical underwear) which have stitchings on them with certain meanings (the stitiching on the pelvis is for fertility, etc)... When one stops wearing their garments, they have broken their covanent and their temple sealing is null and void.

See previous post for magical underwear answer. I'm not here to pass judgement or have an opinion, I'm here to present fact.

Mainstream Mormonism is the only mormonism that exists. There is only one form of mormonism. Anyone who does not follow the only form of mormonism is not a part of mormonism. Those who have broken off to form other sects are shunned and they DO NOT follow mormon teachings, they follow their own - as they have proven before (see Polygamist Green, group in Arizona, recent group in Texas). These people have no connection with mormonism except their name says FLDS. That's it.

Again, I'm not mormon, but I defend them because to wrongfully and inaccurately attack them is ignorance.
