you won't win an x-box 360 but you may answer the question without being redirected.

In my own personal opinion,;
i believe that the consumption of pot, is a personal decission and a victimless crime.

Mary Jane, is one way that some people cope with their day. And that is not for me to judge, because whatever gets someone through their day and it doesn't harm others, i dont see a problem.

Some people use religion. Others their carreers. Some its family. even others use WP. Whatever you do to make the daily grind of living and whatever your crutch is, it is not my place to speak against it.

Dope, of course has some medicinal benefits.

Life, however, is very complicated. Smoking a doobie makes it more difficult to compete. Ganja makes people complacant and lazy. A reefer is a means of coping or not coping.

When i was a teenager i liked to smoke the chronic, it made me feel wierd, turns out i just had AS. Who knew?

Bottom line;
if you choose to be a herb smoker and partake in weed habitually, you are likely relegating yourself to second class status, since it offers little motivation.

But if you like the sexy mex, than that is your prerogative, not for me to judge.

I believe that marijuana is safer than aspirin. It is nearly impossible to induce a fatal health condition using marijuana, and as far as anyone knows, there are no more than one or two deaths in history due to marijuana use. I don't count driving under the influence because anyone who has tried to measure driving performance while using marijuana has not found it to be dangerous.

The biggest benefit is that we will be able to grow hemp for fuel in large quanitities. Imagine a farm family with only a few acres being able to grow all their own fuel suitable for diesel engines and heating, and able to power all of our modern electronics and stuff. That is where we would be. The farms around a town may be able to produce enough fuel for the whole town. Energy costs keep going up and up and we don't have a lot of choices.

I know more people that are retired that smoke herb than I do younger people. That kind of blows that theory about it leading to harder drugs out of the water. I tried it but it made me paranoid so I avoid it. I fervently believe that it has great medicinal uses and hope to see it researched in my lifetime.

Well, I would not like to add any new recreational drugs to the market. I have no problems with regulated medicinal marijuana but I do not want the government to allow smoking weed because it does mess with the mind and it is a part of a slacker stoner culture which needs to be discouraged. Honestly, I would like to ban tobacco and add more limits to alcohol. Drugs should be discouraged because they tend to on average harm people in ways that go beyond physical harm.

You have just inspired me to create a thread on Justice.

Rumor-
The reason why Marijuanna was illegal in the first place is because the Cigarette companies wanted to get rid of competition.

medicinal applications I agree with. Recreational applications, I do not. If smoking tobacco is so evil, why isnt pot? it CAN cause cancer too, and the second hand smoke can make bystandars impaired too. When I drink a beer my date wont get drunk.... There are many arguments on it, but the imparment factor of bystanders and the fact that, like other drugs, it has addictive propteries, Im not sure that legalizing it beyond medical applications that is, is such a good idea....

by your argument that it has impairment factors on others, you disagree with me that it is a victimless crime?

you don't believe that people need *insert whatever crutch here* to get through their day, and it is not the right of others to judge them not.

victumless? tell the 2 year old that was killed 3 years ago in my fire dist bcause her daddy didnt see why he couldnt smoke pot and drive. She was alive when they cut her little body out of the car and didnt live through the night due to the injuries. She was accually in her car seat properly but the force of the car hittingthe tree was so great the seat broke, she was smashed between the front seat and the rear seat and she bit off her tounge. BIT IT OFF. The daddy, was so stoned he literally walked away from the crash. that happens alot with drunks and drugged up people. they are so "laied back" they recieve only minimal injuries while others are maimed or killled. The baby's mother didnt see what the big deal was that he was smoking pot and driving eventhough he caused the death of her toddler.

No, its not a Vicitumless crime.

If I were in the presence of someone smoking dope and breathed that in and got that random drug test the next day, Id be unemployed. (Yes it can show up in a pee test, that pseky secondhand smoke)

I con't feel any of the poll choices fit my view:

Allow very good quality, unadulterated dope to be used for medicinal purposes.

I don't have a problem with individuals smoking or eating dope, in moderation, and safely. (i.e. not smoking and driving, not smoking at work, same rules as for alcohol really.)

My dad has smoked dope for many years - certainly since the late 60's / early 70's. It has affected him, but also he is very prone to panic attacks, and stress, and a joint helps him relax in the evening.

My mum smoked dope when I was a kid, and I thought all cigarettes were made by crumbling that brown stuff onto tobacco. She gave it up before I was about 11 though, and says she is happier for it.

I don't think dope can be compared to other drugs - like nicotine or alcohol. I don't think it is sensible to say "but smoking is legal, so dope should be legal as it is less harmful". They are seperate issues, and tobacco has been legal for a long time - to illegalize it now would be near impossible, and pointless.

Dope smells bad. The woman that lives upstairs from me smokes some noxious stuff, that lingers, and makes me cough. I don't like any type of cigarette / dope smoke though. I don't think smoking in public should be legal, but that's another issue.

I also know people that have smoked themselves into psychosis - not fun! Whilst it is not directly fatal, suicide attempts are bad for one's health! They also had to be hospitalized for a period. This meant one kid was left without a mum for 4 weeks, and another person was in hospital for longer.
It might be argued that those people would have had psychotic attacks anyway, but it certainly wasn't helped by the chain dope smoking.

I don't like the fact that dope has to be bought from sources that involve criminal activity - and one person's friendly dope dealer's supplier is probably supplying crack to a not-so-friendly dealer, and pills to someone else, and the money is funding that supplier's big flash car, and big house.

I also don't like the fact that it is very hard to find out what is in your dope before it is used - that it can be adulterated. But I believe if it were made legal and commercial it would also be adulterated!

So in the end, I think pharmaceutical quality dope should be made available for those that need it, and it shoudl remain a class C drug (in the UK) for the time being.

Marijuana was not illegal in the United States until October 1, 1937, when Congress passed the "Marijuana Tax Act". Total debate time on the House of Representatives floor concerning this issue: 90 seconds. This act did not actually ban the substance - it simply said that one could not sell marijuana without a license. Of course, Congress refused to issue any licenses. Congress finally banned marijuana outright in 1970.

Different types of cannabis have different effects - some strains actually increase motivation and reduce laziness.

As for competition, did you know an olympiad snowboarder was disqualified for using it?

I say we should legalize weed. I'd like that a whole lot more than taking neuroleptics or mood stabilizers.

I think we should outlaw cigarettes and alcohol before we outlaw marijuana. Of course, since mj's are already outlawed, it's kinda a moot point. Cigarettes and alcohol kill 450,000 to 500,000 people per year. Tobacco related deaths are the #1 cause of preventable death in the US (it might be the same in other countries but I don't know). Strangely enough, heroin is less dangerous than tobacco in the long run. Aside from the heavy addiction associated with heroin use, more people die from using heroin because of impure batches of heroin which contain substances other than the intended drug. Also, sharing needles ain't so safe either. (Mind, I'm not advocating heroin but just using it as a contrasting example.)

But I think marijuana should be legalized as a prescription drug as a pain killer for, say, cancer patients or people with glaucoma, etc. Marijuana also helps quell an asthma attack.

It has many prescription uses which I think is cruel to patients to not allow them to take advantage of them. Marijuana frequently has less side effects than many legal prescription drugs ironically enough. I think there's already doctors out there who turn a blind eye to a patient using marijuana who is in utter pain and other pain medications are failing.

As for nonprescription/health use, I'm not sure. Marijuana can still do damage to the lungs (not as greatly as cigarettes) and I don't think should be legal in excess. But I hold off my opinion on that.

I didn't vote. I would vote "yes" for legalizing it as a prescription drug and "unsure" to total legalization.

I totally support the rights of marijuana. Far too many plants have been stripped of their leaves, and burned for the satisfaction of humans(and animals who stoners try to make high). When will the descrimination end?
