Well God's judgement is pretty bad, unless he's being literal. I doubt that someone named 'Fnord' exists, but the one who posts on this forum, whatever his or her name is I'm fairly certain exists.

No - this certainly a coincident: Since I moved to London I witness almost each year the same spectacle: An absolute surprise that in a north-western European country snow in winter can happen. Almost each year for some days the whole country comes to a almost total standstill, because there are few cm of snow on the road and on the railway tracks.
That the snow reached this year 15 cm (something less than 6 inches) and in previous years there were perhaps a few cm less is a nice excuse to dramatize this annual chaos a bit more.
Snow in winter is really not uncommon in London:
