Rumi vs. Bluegrass

They aren't so very different. Even the cultures that foster(ed) them aren't so far apart.
Rural America and conservative(?) Islam are in actuality somewhat alike: women are still oppressed and adherents are likely to be incited into violence with the introduction of outside/contrary cultures.
Reminds me of a Bo Diddley song: "Before You Accuse Me"
Also, Bluegrass and Irish music, when performed well, use incidental/well disguised semi-tones that aren't so far off from the music of the East. Most prominently with the fiddle and Dobro. Bluegrass has a high likelihood of using pentatonic scales and melodies. Even the Blues, a major influence on Bluegrass, has its roots in the East/Africa, e.g. Ali Farka Toure.
