Vernon Smith, a Nobel Prize-winning economist and an Aspie, opposes the recent "economic stimulus" bill that went through Congress and was signed by President Obama.

I am not surprised that Vernon Smith opposed the bailout. After seeing some stuff in his work in experimental economics(for which he got his Nobel Prize), he became rather persuaded of the good qualities of the market, despite his upbringing, so he sides more with free-market economics.

I do suppose even an aspie can smell something funny.

What I wonder is why dose it matter if he's an aspie? His arguments should stand and fall on their own weight.

Aspies are interested in other aspies to some extent.

True, but this isn't a human interest story. Its one of those where you should ignore the human and ask if the argument is good.

All stories involve human interests. If Vernon L Smith were not a PhD Nobel Laureate economist, we would not give him the time of day, much less evaluate his argument. Aspieness likely just adds to his ethos.
