This article today http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 145312.htm seems to indicate a new viewpoint on autism.

Another good article at MSN Health: > Click here to link <. It even addresses the "Vaccination Fallacy" of autism's origin.

I saved it as a PDF file, but I don't know how to add it to the Articles section of WP (or if I should - it's copyrighted).

Is the girl in the picture from the first page supposed to be autistic?

Of course vaccines have nothing to do with it, demon possession is, duh!

That last one was interesting, since i've recently (like last Tuesday?) seen a conference about some guy in the US who did a research on hormones and social behavior (he mostly had children as test subjects but don't fear, he wasn't allowed to make anything unpleasant, he could only go so far as to pick up saliva to check cortisol levels). So anyways, he mostly told us that cortisol levels are highest when family-related stress occurs. =/

The articles treat autism and AS as something to be cured. As someone probably with AS I have social problems but nothing physical. Like Temple Grandin I think like an animal using visual and audio memory but I actually am not bad with verbal language. Some autistic people have real terrible physical and mental problems. I don't and I certainly don't want to be "cured".

I noticed on one of them some people were all conspiracy on government giving us mercury to make us autistic, which then leads onto people with the view that we are inferior mentally and require cleansing or curing, I just can't take it with the bullcrap some of those people make

As someone probably with AS I am not looking for a "cure". But there is no doubt that some people with autism are so severely incapable of taking care of themselves that something that could give them better control would be very helpful.

Yes Sand, I do agree, but I'm not necessarily talking of autistic people going on about cures and whatever, the thing I hate is when NTs think we are broken, and thus need to be fixed, strange that from the same perspective one could say that they need to be fixed, as they cannot always do things that we can.

Also yes I do agree that some autistics cannot take care of themselves, usually very severe cases, as most aspies I know can to atleasts a certain degree, two people at my school however I doubt could in the real world
