They do share a strikingly similar resemblance, but I think Fred Phelps is in fact a rabid groundhog.

This is actually a long running joke in the town I used to live in, Casper. That's the town in Wyoming that Phelps goes to every year to hold a rally in "celebration" of Matthew Shepherd's death.

I oppose Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church, because of his racism against blacks, Jews, Catholics, Muslims, Homosexuals and all other things good.

I remember back in the 90's he would go to funerals of people who died of AIDS and also to funerals of people who were gay bashed. I know a lot of people in the gay community and they would always get mad at him. I remember the Matthew Shepard thing because they televised his funeral on national TV(I Live in Rhode Island), and I remember Fred Phelps and his "little army" protesting it. They showed scenes of where the gay community and the"phelp's army" were in a shouting match. That guy is so horrible.

And they have serious double standards. They preach against homosexuality, yet they obviously commit incest (because they're not allowed to marry people outside the church--what are their options, then?)

Recently, Rev. Phelps was written onto a "blacklist" by the UK government.

I hate the Westboro Baptist Church and their racism, sexism, and homophobia!

Fred Phelps is an evil man and needs to be removed
from the Westboro Baptist Church.
His successor needs to be a fair and open-minded man of faith
who will reform Westboro and the people who worship there.

I think once Fred Sr. dies (since he's the only ordained pastor in that family), the church will die with him.

Everyone else is a lawyer, and the most vocal person besides Fred Sr. is his daughter Shirley (who is also on the UK blacklist). And very few non-Lutheran, non-Episcopalian churches allow women to be pastors.
