Autism will never beat me because I will never give up I will never quit trying to be what most people consider normal. Is that being untrue to myself? Of that I am unsure. I guess it depends on what I want. I have a lot of unanswered questions. I dont even know for certain that I am Autistic, but if I am, I know that I can "snap out of it". Nothing worth having comes easy.. including a normal life, but with determination and new mannerisms copied and practiced, I will have it.

You are aware, of course, that normality includes, by definition, an IQ of 100.

If I must learn to "dumb myself down" in order to better fit in with those whom I typically associate, so be it. And yes I can hold my tongue and laugh on the inside, as not to offend others. It is what I consider a "social skill".

If that's the life you want to live, OK. It would bother me.

Perhaps we misunderstand each other. It's not a matter of flaunting what you know to bulwark your ego and disparage other people, it's a matter of using what you know to help others understand where they might be wrong. To merely silently and smugly laugh at others is snotty and not worthy of anybody. I give respect to every human and to whatever living thing that I can manage, whatever our mutual capabilities might be.

I understand your desire to fit in, but I believe you are setting yourself up for failure if you attempt to 'beat' autism. Like you I do not find having aspergers particularly advantageous and try to adjust my behavior to fit in. As much as I would love a 'cure' I certainly wont be holding my breath.

Unanswered questions? You have come to the perfect place. If you are on the spectrum, you might even receive enough answers to find yourself leaning to accept and like yourself for who you are. It beats a lifetime struggle toward conformity any day.

what would that advertisement look like?

the last scene, after the applied cream, the guy/woman gets back to his/her collegues, and join the pointless chitchat, nods, and contributes with little footnotes such as "indeed, cloudy." "yes, rain. very cloudy."

i find "normals" fascinating

:D

MarlonBanando, why is your diagnosis listed as "neurotypical"? I do hope you're aware of the fact that it implies a "normal" condition.
