I'm thinking of a 4-digit, base 10, number. What is it? Each person has 2 chances of getting it right and the odds on one try are 1 out of 10,000 of being correct. I have written it down. Start guessing, or, if you can, go through the database of my mind and retrieve it.

You mean the number you were thinking of when you started typing, or the other numbers?

It starts with a 5, now you have a 1/1000 chance for one try and 1/500 chance for two tries. What are the other three digits in correct order?

I don't think they are trying to say that everyone can ACCURATELY read minds, just that it is natural for us, in certain situations, to TRY to do so. People "try" to get inside each other's heads all the time. In that sense, it is "natural" to human nature. And there are these weird times there seems to be almost a telekinetic connection. But it's more a sense, and a feeling, than an actual knowledge of what is in someone's head. I'm actually fairly good at establishing that sort of connection out of people's written words, reading "between the lines" so to speak. I really can't say how that varies for Aspies. It seems like my son has a relatively normal amount of "instinct" when it comes to others. The difference for him, perhaps, is that he has to remove all the other noise from his brain, first, and focus his thoughts on someone else. THAT is what isn't natural for him, but he is capable of it. I think, lol. I'm having trouble thinking up examples, just, well, sometimes he does just "know" when it comes to me, at least.

trying to get in someone's head sounds like 'empathy'

If I told you, then that would be telling, and that takes all the fun out of it.

Quote:
Some scientists suspect this is what happens in autistic people, whose mental disorder prevents them from understanding the intentions and motives of others.

Some autistics suspect that non-autistics have a mental disorder that prevents them from expressing their intentions and motives with a reasonable level of clarity. This often leads to using "unspoken" messages as a crutch, making statements that would be revealed as distasteful or downright false if spoken aloud, and then allowing the afflicted to evade any social accountability for their statements. Some autistics are puzzled by how defensive the afflicted become when pressed to communicate clearly, but try to consider their bizarre behavior within the framework of their disorder.

I can get it right if you give me 20 tries :)

And you have to say if its more or less :)

Is it more or less than 5000?
