Holy S**T!

About two years ago, my husband and I were driving down the street at night, when we ran over a bunch of large lava rocks. I had seen two kids running from the scene, so I chased them down, found them, and made them come back to my car. I took down their names and addresses, but didn't call the police, b/c they seemed very sorry. One of the kids was crying and had snot running down his face. Several weeks later, after we moved into our house with an attached garage, we noticed that the gas tank was leaking, etc. we needed extensive repairs and we contacted their parents. We got our money and apparently, the kids had to work it off.

This year, one of those kids got high off of sherm, which is marijuana laced with PCP, and killed his friend, his friend's mother, and almost killed the dad. His name is Travis Ault.

Here is the link: http://www.krem.com/news/police/stories ... ef773.html

My husband and I couldn't believe it, but it turns out that this kid had 11 juvenile run-ins with the police...

BTW, this is my second freaky situation with a murderer. The other one was a serial killer, Robert Yates, who murdered my father's cousin and her friend. They were thought to be Yates' first murders and he later went on to kill prostitutes. The kicker....he lived 2 blocks up from myself and my parents during some of the murders and at the time of his arrest, and I used to walk by his house every day!

I really don't know what the hell that says about my life.

I once sat down and had a pleasant religious conversation with somebody I thought was a nice fellow. He was Jim Kopp, now in prison for killing an abortion doctor by shooting him through a window of his house.

My pharmacology professor is in prison for attempted murder. He was married, head of a huge pharmacy, yet was stalking one of his former nursing students. She turned him down, he tried to kill her in her sleep, and she was able to beat him up so bad he ended up in the ICU.

The weird thing was seeing this guy every week and thinking he was a nice, mild-mannered intelligent professional, yet he did this attempted murder in the middle of our semester. So while he was teaching us, in the back of his mind he was thinking about the rope and duct tape he had to buy, etc. It was VERY premeditated and planned.

Really shook my faith up about my judgement in meeting people and assuming they're okay.

Nothing about you personally, but perhaps you don't live in or travel through the safest areas....hmm.

Anyways, I am glad to be able to say I am one of the fortunate people who've never met or seen a murder IRL. Phew....

Actually, our neighborhood is called "Snob Hill," b/c of the nice houses, schools and people. We are by far the safest area in the city. I know this, b/c I used to work with the Juvenile division.

The serial killer of course lived in our neighborhood, b/c he had a wife and three kids and was a National Guard helicopter pilot. My brother went to school with his kids.

The other kid, who was a murderer can't be explained by geography either, b/c he also lived in our neighborhood and his step-dad is a corrections officer.

It just blows my mind that I happen to be so connected with two in one lifetime...yikes!

sounds like he got what was comming to him.

Ok I have had a run in with a possible serial rapist/murderer.....

this guy I went to school with, jonathan vick, was arrested a couple months ago for the murder of dana satterfield. She was raped and torchered forst in ther beauty salon that she owned. It was like 10 years ago when vick was like 17. we used to TAKE HIM home from school and from football games. I had JROTC classes with him too. He didnt seem like a phycopath at that time.... Oh and get this, the car he used to drive was described in the murder investigation, and he was getting hasseled by the cops about the car, well accually a Bronco, but I digress.... Anyhow we raninto him at a football game after that happened (and he was STILL IN High School) and asked him 'bout the car how he was taking being hassled like that, and he said "well I guess Im gonna have to get another car because of all the stuff going on" and that was it. He was like the car issue was more of a hassle than anything, and was laied back about it. they said they are going to lookinto the other places he lived when he was a marine and in the places he drove as a trucker because they think that there are more murders..... And to think I had this cat in my car, some times alone, taking him home from school and football games. THAT is scary....
Oh you can google the names and get the articles about the case.... I was just too lazy today to post a link....

Whoa! Those were some scary stories! I hope I never meet a murderer; I've already known a rapist...

Lol, I don't know why this is turning into a claim-to-fame thread but what the heck, I'll ad my own on.

I knew and went to highschool for 2 years with a girl who was uber-popular, came from a really well known family in the area, and her and one GQ'd out guy who was a senior seemed to be the contestants for who got the most Valentines Day gifts. Well, I left that highschool after sophmore year, I think about a year went by, and I ended up hearing about her again - that she'd gotten pregnant, not told anyone, delivered the baby at home, smothered it, and threw it out in a trash bag. She'd let one friend in on it (who I also used to know) and I guess the whole story got out because she called her friend and told her "Well, we can go bakini shopping now", her friend started crying, her friends dad saw his daughter crying, and I guess he just asked about it at the right time. Turns out the girl I mentioned already had two abortions and I think either her parents, the school (catholic highschool), or both had given her an ultimatum on how they'd handle things in the future - the school got all kinds of press as well which I'm sure they really must have loved...

I went to school all the way from middle school through high school and was some what friendly and at times cosidered him a friend but towards the end he just got creepy he ended up killing another friend of mine one of the few I had in high school over just $300 he was caught and cofessed within a week and pleded out to avoid the death penalty even as creepy as he was toward the end I had a very hard time thinking how we had known eachother so long and he could still do such a thing by the way he had known the other guy since middle school to and was a freind of his
