Caught With His Pants Down

No, it's not the name of the new Michael Jackson album, it's the first person arrested under Riviera Beach's anti-baggy pants ordinance. Penalty for a repeat offense: 30 days in jail. 8O :? :o :? 8O

I always wonder about the pants that are designed to look like underwear is showing, but the "underwear" is actually part of the pants.

Would you still get in trouble under this ordinance? Even if you could prove your actual underwear was in fact not showing?

honestly, if these towns don't watch it, they are going to have a large scale protest with all the protestors showing up wearing entirely legal clothing like speedo's and bikinis.

I'd never wear such clothing, but dang I'd love to organize that protest :D

I think with those pants on, you'd probably be able to convince a judge that the underwear were not actually visible, but you'd only see the judge after being led away in cuffs and spending the night in jail.

It doesn't seem that the baggy pants were the officers' primary motivation in busting this guy... I'd bet he'd never have been arrested if he hadn't made a spectacle of himself...

Incidentally, if they tried to enforce such a law where I live, half the male population (and a few females) would be in jail.

There was this 16 year-old guy at work "slagging" (as they term this fashion statement). So I took the opportunity to read out loud the cutesy messages printed on his underwear. The manager was like, "Boy! Pull your pants up!"

'exposure of undergarments'- now that's amazing. I kinda see the point tho, I remember being in the back row in class at school, all the people in front had their asses hanging out of their pants. I mean, why?!?

It's also kinda funny that the officer goes out to find a car that's selling illegal drugs, finds the car, and arrests the man next to it for wearing baggy pants...

Does the ordinance make that illegal? Or is it perfectly find to droop your pants so long as you aren't wearing underwear beneath them?

Word, PP. So long as their back end is covered by something, I don't care if it's boxers or pants...

Now if they'd just make a law about those plumber's cracks...

:?

Although I don't agree with the fashion of having your undergarments showing off like billboard, I see this ordinance as going to far. Its going into the area of freedom of expression which is dangerous as this area has been a battle ground for years.
