at 26 he'll be the youngest actor to ever play the Doctor.

Let's hope he doesn't have a bad transition period. It's very hard to come after a very popular Doctor. Just ask Peter Davison.

WOW GREAT CHOICE!! Saw programme on it last night, the producers found him relatively early in their search but waited and auditioned loads of others before finally giving in to very strong instincts!

HE IS GORGEOUS....................and in my opinion will make a great 11th Doctor. Good luck Matt! We will all be glued. Phew what a relief, David Tennant will be sadly missed.....................but now we have Matt to look forward to! I think the Tardis is in good hands! :lol:

Which fits given how many regenerations he has gone through. As the doctor himself gets older, usually the next actor to play him looks younger than the prior one.

That's a good question.

Probably in a few years, the Doctor will have yet another unusual regeneration, only this one will be a lot more unusual than the others.

Actually, it's me... photoshopped over the top of Patrick Troughton... I figure that it's best if the actual person you're talking to appears in the avatar and since I've been following Dr Who since I was 4, I figured I should combine the two.

It hasn't actually been established that Time Lords can change gender though it has certainly been established that they can regenerate into non-human looking lifeforms. Romana did that during her "flux" period between regenerations (Destiny of the Daleks).

Well, he's getting close to Valeyard time.... when his personality splits off into a whole new being - "somewhere between your twelfth and [13th] final incarnation" - And at the same time, they'll have to find a way to get him a whole new life-cycle.
