beware fo the first studies; they still have to be peer-reviewed and duplicated.

If the disease was linked to high levels of estrogen, the feminist extremists would be all over that in a second.

the first article could lead to some believing casteration is the key to solving autism, i'd rather keep mine. what i'd like to know is if high levels of testosterone are the key cause or just a sign, most people in this day and age assume without enough information which could be dangerous to those with any autism spectrum disorder.

There will always be spectulation with no real answers and I can not help but wonder at times do we really need answers or is it about time others accepted, allowed us just be be...

This research has been going on for a while at the Cambridge University UK I think and Professor Simon Baron-Cohen is on th team one the best authorities on autism world wide, anyway he seems to make more sense than most...

For myself happy I was born and sure do not want to be deleted and do not feel we ever should be, my biggest problem in life has always been ignorance and narrow mindedness from others wanting me to fit into there neat little stereo type minds :alien:

I would like to point out they already tried castrating autistic people with Lupron it didn't work. I also agree with pakled until this study can be replicated it doesn't mean anything.

I'm curious about how the high levels of testosterone got in the womb in the first place.

I'm pretty sure my dad is responsible for my aspergers. So... is it something the placenta causes? The genetic link was already established, right?

I knew I should have gone on to med school or taken more bio classes in college.

What makes you think that they are not already engaged in a form of medical man-bashing?

i dont think that high brain testosterone levels in womb are the cause as im a MTF transexual and that is caused by low brain testone levels and high brain estrogen levels in the womb. so ether the research saying that sex homones are linked to aspergers is wrong or the reaserch saying that sex hormones are linked to Gender identity disorders is wrong, im no doctor but im going to side with the research linking gender determining hormones with a gender disorder.
