I say let's put him in front of a firing squad, say about 5 riflemen, each with one bullet, and if god sees fit to make the riflemen's guns jam or miss their target, then god's will was carried out... if, on the other hand, god sees fit to guide those rounds directly into his cold, cruel heart, or if god stays out of it altogether and lets the laws of physics carry those rounds into this fool, then we can assume that what he did was the wrong thing to do, from God's point of view... if he doesn't die instantly and requires medical care, said medical care should be limited to prayer, but in no case should he be given any more medical care than he gave his child...
A man who truly believes in God's intervention into such matters should readily agree to such an arrangement... if he doesn't, then that would prove that he never really believed that God would save his child and he should be convicted of gross negligence, manslaughter, and reckless endangerment...
and then take him outside and shoot him...
and give him a proper christian burial...
or even better, just give him a proper christian burial without bothering to shoot him first, and let him try to pray his way out...
I agree with the last part of your paragraph, he should be broght up on charges of manslaughter or gross negligence and spend a long time in prison. God gave us the ability to reason and use inquiry for the advancement of knowledge and indirectly he gave us the knowledge of medicine.
