Yeah - not really into team sports. I can watch soccer for a few minutes though. I was very happy when I realized late on Superbowl Sunday that I had managed to miss the whole affair. Woohoo! I can't handle things where lots of people get together and scream, even if it's on tv.

I have no interest in sport.

I can understand why the people in some small town can cheer "their" team against the team of the town next door.

But why people will pick some team of highly paid professionals and care about them is beyond me.

It is also beyond my understanding why people will give up their youth in the vain hope of being the fastest runner in the world.
The odds are six billion to one and even if you win then so what?

My dad watched football a lot, but I'd go to my room and find something else to do. I do think its cool though how they now project the play-status markers onto the football field, so it looks like they're painted on the grass, with the players actually walking over them. Can holographic porn be far behind?

8O  :lmao:  :?: Why haven't I ever heard of that idea before? :!:
That's all that made me laugh.

well sir, god made all sorts of types to populate his little science experiment called earth. i believe he made lots more of your type than of mine, however. i am hoping you have some insight you could share, as to why this is so

because you generally need more brawn than brains to build the pyramids.

but someone had to design the pyramid, someone had to organize the brawn and that takes brains.

right, i know, what i meant is that you need a lot more big, common brutes to do the labour involved than you need brainy people to provide the architecture, etc. i was in no way siding with the brutes.

I've always loved watching sports, and playing them except that I didn't have the athletic talent to succeed. With steroids and hard work, I could have been David Eckstein at best.

Sports (baseball in particular, or really, just baseball) is an obsession of mine... I've memorized the stats of a couple of my favorite players, and I'm always analyzing such numbers.

I've found that jocks are nice, but the wanna be jocks who don't have the skill to play, nor the intelligence to do anything else, they are the scum

I find watching sports is about as interesting as watching paint dry.
I do, however find it some what humorous how sports casters try to turn the inconsequential into life and death matters.

sports to me is boring. I think part of the (non)appeal is being clumsy and terrible at sports. Plus, I feel that if you root for a team, and they lose, you lose too (stupid, but it's how I feel)

The thing that bores me is that 'if you don't like sports, you must be gay'...when there's loads of gay people that like it...;)

comedy team bob and ray [many decades ago] did a funny routine where they did a "play by play" running commentary on a classical music performance of beethoven's 5th symphony, as though it were a televised baseball game. now THAT was entertaining.

this reminds me of h.l. mencken's pithy comment about how "i hate sports the way a person who likes sports hates common sense."

other than politics, there is nothing i find as uninteresting as sports, including the olympics. i would rather watch jeopardy, or if i lack any other choices, then just watch paint drying on a wall.

Yeesh I giggled when I read this. Completely agree, sports seem so uninteresting, it's like watching other people play sports makes no sense. Get out and play the sports you enjoy yourself. I had a roommate once that was one of those 'shout at the current game on the TV' type guys, yeh, I eventually went crazy and moved out. :P

* I did however enjoy watching sean white snowboarding during the olympics, only DVR and only for a bit....shhhhh!
