Pope Benny 16 has grudgingly admitted condoms as being "moral" to prevent infection. Now priests will be allowed to put them on before buggering altar boys.

Good to see that the Catholic Church is finally moving with the times by allowing condoms to be used. I guess forensics are getting pretty advanced these days.

I heard this news on the radio this morning. I'm surprised actually.

But it was only for gay men it was allowed. (Which they are against anyway). Specifically I believe the example was gay prostitutes.
Female prostitues are still not allowed.

The Catholic Church is still as anti-women as it ever were.

Makes a change. Looks like the catholic church might actually be leaving the medieval age? Could it be?

Don't think so. He is rectifying his previous statement in which he said that condoms don't stop AIDS so it's needless to introduce them in African countries. Instead, africans should be educated to not have sex. javascript:emoticon('8O')
It is like to ask people on the spectrum to stop stimming...
In addition, this opinion shows at least 2 old prejudices: AIDS comes from gay sex and potentially reproductive sex it's worth a life risk even if the poor female prostitute will have an abortion and some illnesses.

It made me so mad that the catholic church went into these starving african countries and told them that God forbids the use of birth control, and they are dying every day because their population far exceeds their resources. This, to me, is a type of genocide in the name of god.
Now I know why so many catholics become athiests.

I thought it was a puzzling annoucement and then I decided it was probably all to do with the sanctity of life. Catholics believe (AFAIK) that only God should decide when you have children, therefore 2 gay men having sex, using condoms aren't breaking that commandment.

I think it was also framed in terms of least worst scenario. Ie if a man insists on visiting a male prostitute for sex, then something like "using a condom is a first step towards moral responsibility"

I hope I'm not offending anyone. I'm not catholic and don't subscribe to those views, it just puzzled me until I came up with my interpretation.

Well There the church goes again contradicting itself all the while controling people by putting words in God's mouth.
If they really believed that only God can decide who reproduces and who doesnt, then it would declare that everybody should screw like rabbits and let God sort out who gets pregnant instead of insisting on absinince only the only means of birth control.

As far as the gay prostitute using condoms... I guess since the outing of priest molesting kids, they have to turn somewhere for kicks and want to make sure they dont catch something when they go pay the gay prostitute a visit. I am sure it has nothing to do with gay rights or a sudden shift in his moral compass.
