So it's some tart lying about rape again? I have a friend who'd be interested in this story...
No. She was raped, just not by this guy.
Ah, OK. Fair enough. In which case, my apologies. The NZ Police should have been far more circumspect about this though instead of wrecking this poor guy's life. And mud sticks, after all.
I hope the find the real creep who violated her.
My reasoning for saying what I said in the previous post is that there are quite a number of cases of 'women' lying about rapes that never even took place, often in a wicked attempt cover up infidelity or embarrassment.
And there are uncountable rapes that never even get reported because women don't want to go through the humiliation of people claiming they're lying to cover up infidelity or embarrassment after being violated and attacked in such an intimate and personal way. When someone burgles your apartment, you stay in a hotel for a night or two if you don't feel safe. Where do you escape if you've been raped?
Yes, the executive and judicial systems failed here by not making sure they arrested and prosecuted the right man. It looks like he's receiving a lot of support and positive restitution for their harmful mistakes and I hope it does go a long way to repairing the damage it's done to his life and reputation. None of that changes that she was raped and there was evidence of a rape. The evidence just didn't match this guy's DNA. Whatever you share with your friend, make sure you share the right information and not skew this as some perverse proof that women lie about rape because the story of these two people does not fit into that agenda.
