So there's this crap about birth certificate vs. certificate of live birth thing. I have a copy of my original birth certificate filed with the Register of Deeds four days after I was born. It has the seal and signatures and everything else that Birthers consider holy. You know what it says at the top? Certificate of Live Birth.

At the DMV, the only reason why I got a driver's permit was because I was with someone they knew. There was a mistyping with the first letter of my name and only half the letter showed up on my birth certificate. Apparently that is pretty bad...so technically I guess I am not a citizen if my birth certificate is not valid. I am a man without a country

But yeah, Trump should reveal his taxes if Obama is stupid enough to show it now. Fair is fair.

I had a hell of a time getting a passport. My middle name is spelled ALLEN on the birth certificate, but it's really ALAN. That's according to my mom, baptism record, hospital birth chart, and circumcision consent form. It took notarized copies of all those documents before the Dept of State would believe my middle name is ALAN.

that is nonsense. There are further records at the hospital (or from the midwife) to substantiate the place and time of your birth.

We are talking about the New Jersey DMV here. For all I know it was perfectly OK and they had to find something to give me a hard time because I aced the written portion. These people always ruin your day somehow. There was a cartoon specifically making fun of how terrible the New Jersey DMV is.

Maybe the reason it took so long for him to show it is because he thought the whole thing was ridiculous rubbish and would blow over when people realised how utterly stupid and childish it was making them look?

Then he remembered what country he was in.

Y'know, if it had gone the other way, McCain wasn't born in the US either (Panama, actually). So would we be worried about the Catholics taking over?...;)

Lame game topic

In Ontario where I live I have a birth certificate, not one of live birth, so who knows? I have questioned my existence, though Monsieur Sartre and his writings always help me: I certainly existed before I was aware of it (at about 18-24 months of age!). Like Barack, my parents are both dead so that I no longer have anyone who would vouch for the whereabouts of my birth, though I do know the hospital I was born in, and I hope if I dug deep I would find evidence of this.

Trump is catering to the LCD. I would like to comment on his name, though: Trump? Made up? Prove it is your real name, Don! As it is, it seems like a Bridge game maneuvre. Games people play. L-A-M-E :P

John McCain was born to Military parents who are US citizens. Any child of Military personal or US diplomats and US Embassy/Consulate staff are given automatic US citizenship if born overseas. They are consider Natural born Citizens.

Reminds me of the Farmington New mexico DMV. I swear to God they are a bunch of jerks myself. That one DMV once failed my sister on her driver's liscence, just because they didn't like the passenger door snagging. Another time, they told her "no", just because it was an old model. Like, give me a break, right? :? I failed mine once with them by her telling everyone I was "speeding through the stop signs". Not true. I stopped at each one, and haven't forgiven her yet. The ones I had in Houston were polight, and I got mine easily here instead of there. Yeah, I think I can believe you.

True - I just find it ironic that while Obama was born in a formerly-independent country (Hawaii), that became a state, Panama is actually a US-Created foreign country...;) Technically, I think that's the first time both candidates weren't born in CONUS...;)

I'm sure someone, somewhere, had to verify that Obama was born in the US.

Yes, and he has the birth certificate to prove it.

Being born in the Continental U.S. is NOT a requirement for being POTUS.

Well, if you want to get technical about it, there were quite a few Presidents who weren't born in CONUS. After all, it was a requirement that candidates be at least 35 years of age, which means that until 1806, it would not have been possible to field a candidate born in this country. :) (And of course it didn't happen even then - it wasn't until van Buren won the 1836 election that we had a President who had been born in the United States...)

After the many statements claiming that the first birth certificate was the only one, that there was no long form, I think the long form recently released is bunk.

I also consider the fact that it really isn't difficult for someone in government to create the birth certificate and for it to pass all legitimacy tests. Federal marshals do this all the time for witnesses in witness protection.

Basically, I don't think this new birth certificate is any more legitimate than the last one.

On the other hand, I understand that the term "natural born citizen" was never defined in the Constitution, and according to US citizenship laws a person who is born to a US citizen is automatically a US citizen at birth. Obama's mother was a US citizen and thus he is a US citizen regardless of place of birth.
