I live around Security Square Mall and I'm watching the news on WJZ and it's starting to look pretty serious outside. My power hasn't gone out yet but I heard that some people have lost power. How are the conditions in the other cities that people still have power? Have you guys had any friends that have lost power and have recently posted about it on a social media site?

They news is telling everyone to make sure that they stay inside, but some people around where I live are still driving out places. I'm DEF staying inside because I've never seen wind speeds around 64mph. I figured that I'd start a post on the subject so that people on this site could see how other aspies (and neurotypicals) are affected by this VERY surprising weather.

Your poll might be a little premature. I live in West Virginia, and although I'm a little affected right now, our weather is forecast to deteriorate greatly over the next twenty-four hours. There is still a lot of time to go....

Here in central New Jersey inland, Middlesex Count. The wind is a steady 45 with gusts up to 60. The branches of the trees are dancing wildly and some of the weaker branches are coming down. This is the beginning. Winds up to 60 over night and tomorrow.

It is a good day to be indoors.

Stay safe, fellow Aspies along the Eastern seaboard.

It's raining like crazy right now, and it is windy out. I just hope I'll be able to leave the house tomorrow. Plus, I made the mistake of taking out the garbage this morning, thinking the garbage men were coming out. Oh well........

I'd like to be affected by it. We could really use the rain here in Texas.

The mystical weather shield is holding at the moment where I am at. Just medium strength wind right now. It is supposed to get REALLY bad within the next 12 hours though.

As for what I mean about the weather shield... its how the mountains affect the town I am in. Most storms get blocked out in the small valley the town sits in. Granted with the amount of rain they are calling for... rockslides are likely. they happened during irene and Ivan. Meaning even with power, we all can still be stranded by that or main roads/highway that runs right next to a river get flooded over.

Same here in Oregon, as this month's rainfall is very much on the sucky side,
since it's barely making up for a dry September.

Has anyone started experiencing any flooding yet? The water in Baltimore (not directly where I live though) is rising VERY fast.

Some of the roads in the lehigh valley area have been washed out by streams overflowing, same for roads maybe a little ways north in my area as well (maybe 20 minute drive from the ABE metro area, sometimes we get counted into it even though we are in the middle of nowhere/other side of a geographic/geological boundary.)

I used to live in the Houston area. One morning I watched the tv coverage of a hurricane approaching landfall until I fell asleep about 6 am.

At about 10 am, the phone rang. It was someone from work asking if I was coming to work that day. It turned out that the hurricane passed a few miles to the east and we had blue skies and no wind. If anything the weather that day was even nicer than usual.

It's darn windy here in the Midwest, and the weatherman says it's from the hurricane.
Now that is one BIG storm.
