New York Times: Donald Trump Says He’s Not Surprised by Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes Speech

Quote:
“It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter,” she said, referring to a speech by Mr. Trump in 2015 when he shuddered and flailed his arms, seeming to mock a disabled reporter for The New York Times. “It kind of broke my heart when I saw it, and I still can’t get it out of my head, because it wasn’t in a movie. It was real life.”

“This instinct to humiliate, when it’s modeled by someone in the public platform, by someone powerful, it filters down into everybody’s life, because it kind of gives permission for other people to do the same thing,” she said in her remarks. “Disrespect invites disrespect, violence incites violence. And when the powerful use their position to bully others we all lose.”

Quote:
Later Monday morning, Mr. Trump, in a series of tweets, called Ms. Streep “one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood,” and “a Hillary flunky who lost big.” He also reiterated his argument that he had not mocked the reporter “but simply showed him ‘groveling.’ ”

I think she's a drama actor who put on a performance.

And unless Ted Cruz is also disabled, that's not what Trump was mocking.

And what's the point of this kinda stuff? He's already been elected and no one is going to remember this year's golden globes speech four years from now.

All this jazz is mighty entertaining though, that's for sure. What's next on the menu I wonder?

Classic fake news. The New York Times is Fake News Central.

Another Hollywood celebrity turns out to be a lying fraud -- what a surprise.

Trump mocked a reporter- its a fact, period. Trump can whine, lie and change the topic all he wants. Has he apologized once for it? I'm thinking no because he feels he did nothing wrong. Trump has bullied and attacked many people in the past as well. The tweets are there, so is video proof of it! Trump is 70 years old- he has acted like a child for most of his adult life. People love to say "but what Trump did was years ago so it doesn't matter", which is an excuse. There is plenty of recent examples of his bullying/namecalling/lying. His whining over SNL hurting his poor little feelings is recent. So is his attacking of Streep, Arnold and others.

Trump is a cyber bully and real life bully as well! It's sickening how its somehow alright for him to do it.

@Darmok This isnt fake news at all. Trump is a bully and needs to grow the hell up.

Yes Trump is elected- but that doesn't make everything bad he has done just go away. If he keeps up this crap- it will show that he should be impeached sooner than later. The more meetings he skips and more time he tweets up his whiny responses to everyone that says truths about him- the more it proves he is unhealthy and does have a mental illness! He isnt fit to be president. I still see ZERO proof his companies arent being run by him anymore. Being run by his kids doesn't make matters better, because he can easily just approve stuff that favor his businesses and its clear he already is! His cabinet picks are the corrupt/elite mostly. The rich will get richer the next 4 years, while many others will just struggle.

Also it should be noted- Republicans failed to compromise with Obama during nearly all of his time as president. They were whiny brats that basically sabatoged Obama and America for their personal gain. Sickening.

I end my post with this- what will Trump have to do for more people to wake up and realize its not just "media lies" ? There is already plenty of facts about Trump out there that show he has conned many people, lied, bullied (and so on)- but people think it doesnt matter.

I don't think that's what he did, because he did something extremely similar regarding Ted Cruz waffling in his opinion. Very similar gestures, both times when talking about someone waffling. And I'm saying this as a person with a motor dysfunction disability that sort of resembles cerebral palsy.

"Trump mocked a reporter's disability" and "Trump imitated a disabled reporter" are Big Lies of the Left, revealing the true character of the fascist propaganda machine that he is up against.

And note the brilliance of the manipulative innuendo the Times uses: "seeming to mock a disabled reporter." The Times knows it's Big Lie, but it is so valuable to them they can't let it go.

But hey, Trump's behavior is nothing compared to that time Obama rallied a big crowd, seeming to give his followers a Nazi salute to fire their passion.

Even if the reporter wasn't disabled, what Trump did was offensive and very wrong. People can make their points very clearly without making "arm movements" and sounding all funny. Donald Trump is 70 years old- he doesn't need to do offensive movements and voices to get attention, but he does them anyway.. because he is obsessed with attention. He has to feed his ego at every chance he can get. Was his mocking supposed to be a joke? Because many people didn't find it funny, except for other bullies. Lets not forget- people elected a president, not a comedian!

An incoming president shouldn't be a bully, period. No excuses or valid reasons can justify how Trump has treated people over the years. People can defend him all they want- there is more than enough proof of him being rude and cruel to people, even if many people refuse to accept it.

Trump is still a bully. People ignoring the facts or just calling them "lies" doesn't make it how you personally want.

Fact- Donald Trump has insulted many people in interviews, press conferences and on Twitter. Nearly anytime someone mentions him on a show, he has to run to Twitter to bash them if they "mocked him" or "lied about him". Many times in reality- a person says the truth but Trump either forgot he said it or doesn't want to admit he said something. He is a whiny little brat that can't handle negative things said about him! Yet he can dish out insult after insult. He's a thin-skinned bully/coward.

Fact- Donald Trump hasnt paid many workers because he claimed they did a bad job. Lawsuits happened- Trump destroyed evidence and decided to drag it out until the other side caved in.

Fact- Donald Trump said he would date his own daughter if they werent related! (Very sick and not something a healthy person would EVER say).

Fact- Donald Trump lied about draining the swamp. He is populating it with more swamp monsters, nearly all of his picks have shady and corrupt backgrounds. Plus many conflicts of interest that likely wont just vanish before they all go to work soon.

Then why does he say he wasn't mocking the reporter for his disability and didn't know of the reporters disability...perhaps that wasn't his reason, but he still did mock a reporter nonetheless, even he admits that much.

Couldn't be more tired of these deluded celebrities thinking their political opinions matter.

Not really deluded when apparently their power can go a long ways outside of their areas of expertise, a certain deluded celebrity did just win the presidency after all. Its set a precedent.

As an English person I find Trump rather bizarre ad this whole thing is bizarre. But he's actually said something I wholeheartedly agree with.

Merely Street is overrated. She acts the SAME in everything she does and so does her daughter. Ott is not acting. Mutters something about emperors new clothes.

It seems like it motivates more people to vote against them than actually helps their cause, it's attention seeking narcissism being took advantage of by cynical plotting politicians. No, I do not care about what Hollywood has to say about anything and perhaps they should clean up their own house before casting stones as Hollywood is an empire of pedophilia which everybody knows as open secret while they still apologize for rapists like Roman Polanski.

Crazy peoples are in power now. They have won the politic games in the most powerful country of the world and they would make so they stay in power. True will become lie and lie will become true. Game over.
