a question comes to mind- does the mixing of genders on the road add to tensions or alleviate tensions?

All depends.
And is this only applying to drivers? Or are passengers supposed to ride with the same sex instead of spouses, significant others, friends, carpooling, etc?

AFAIK only drivers.

Okay; otherwise, this whole idea would be sillier than it is.

the way I see it, women might be thankful for such a thing because it gives them a free de facto "diamond lane" in case traffic gets hairy on the both-genders' roadways.

But I think there are plenty of men who'd appreciate such a thing, too. On the other hand, there are some women who are absolutely reckless and aggressive drivers.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. Only in the UK where women are still seen as delicate flowers. I'm glad I live in Canada. I knew I decided to change last year for a reason. I think I just puked it up pink, just now.

They are?

I voted yummy ice-cream.

Sounds like stupidity wrapped in more stupidity.

Assuming that both genders drive an equal amount of miles.per unit time per capita, and both genders make up about half of the population: their stats are probably fallacious.

If you eliminate half of the drivers on the road its going to be safer for the remaining half. Fewer other drivers on the road mean fewer cars to hit your car, and fewer targets for you yourself to hit. So obviously its gonna be safer for you.

You would probably have the same results if you had seperate highways for folks with odd number license plates, and for even numbered license plates, regardless of sexual gender, as you would have for segregating the highways by gender. You could just build double deck highways everywhere to accomidate the new license plate appartheid for the road. Might reduce accidents. But it would be expensive as heck.

I remember when comedian George Wallace (a black guy, not the idiot bigot) had suggested drunk drivers have their own lane - - with traffic going in both directions.
