They used to specifically tell us a story about the refrigerators, under Communism, and the strange malfunctions, which would occur, because they were not manufactured, under a competitive market. I kid you not.

One wonders whether any of the cultural aliens, who lived in the apt, were given social promotions in the factory. Maybe, that's May's fault, too.

One of the poorest areas in the country on a boundary with one of the richest with the same local government.

Rich people say it's an eyesore, we don't want to see it looking like that, not on our doorstep, poor people say it's already a fire risk, don't make it worse. It gets expensive, attractive but dodgy cladding but not a sprinkler system that would have cost a fraction of the cost.

Rich people generally vote for the party that runs the local authority, poor people generally vote for the opposition party.

Who was listened to?

After it caught fire notice the complete lack of council support for the survivors.

Not saying anything other than that's a lot of coincidences.

Crony capital generally services the welfare state and vice versa. This is a wheel and not an actual tug of war.

While there are a lot of possibilities for the cause, the fridge exploding being one of them actually doesn't strike me as unusual or unlikely, as there have been cases in the news every once in a while.

If only they'd endorsed an extra few quid then the death toll, as it stands at large, wouldn't have exceeded past sixty today.
As for whatever upgrade you and businessman oh I mean biscuitman are discussing, isn't it past time you stoped dwelling on possible causes being leaked and concentrate on the effects of the bereaved?
Upgrade? what possible joking matter could there possibly be in a situation like this?

I am in favor of allowing a building to remain a building. It is better to have people, whether I like them or not, with shelter, food and comfort, than without.

But, I would not put self-harm, past a radical. Like the people in jail, who make their limited accommodations even worse than they have to be.

I ultimately don't feel safe around a majority of these people or even trust them with themselves, just don't act on that, destructively.

In the concentration camps / refugees centers, or whatever you like to call, they did ruin it.

If you're trying to describe what the law has effects onto, then look around you, there are plenty of law enforcers and firemen trying their upmost to do their jobs, they shouldn't have even gone up to the ninth floor! let alone what they achieved, but its all down to them. No one else.
If people chose to fall out of buildings like the late chapter of 9/11, then that would be suicide. They burnt to death! The buildings are all past their original sell by date and the rain roof and extra cladding was just as unsafe as having a non retardant tower block without any sprinklers. Government officials are mad, and I hope Mrs Mays government does something about it.

No, I am wondering whether they wrecked their govt housing, in protest to housing conditions, only to make their prospects even worse.

I do think people are sometimes set up to fail, but do not think rolling flaming tires down the street, or knocking over newsstands (as some people do) is an effective means of redress.

If you're mean to disadvantaged people (deservingly or not), the police state gets an excuse to put everyone equally under martial law, even the (deservingly, or not) pretty, rich, and influential people.

Empathy -- why are you bashing me?

I started this thread in sincere empathy (pardon the pun) for the victims of this fire. I'm not making light of or joking about THEM.

The one "crack" biscuitman and I shared was directed toward Teresa May and her appallingly automated reaction to this incident. I do not share you opinion that this in any way detracts from our distress we feel toward the victims, if anything it supports it as she's the one being WIDELY criticized for this in the UK, not just by a couple of people on WP. . .

And regarding speculation about the cause -- again HOW is that any detraction from being concerned about the effect upon the bereaved??

Wondering what the causes are is something the authorities, the public AND no doubt those who lost loved ones are doing themselves, why are you attacking me and others on this thread for doing the same thing? We are not saying anything disrespectful but out of the same concern everyone is feeling about the causes right now, as there are existing buildings all over the country with the same type of refurbishments also.

Expressing shock and concern about that aspect is not mutually exclusive to also being heartbroken for the bereaved and the dead, you know.

Now kindly GET OFF MY BACK. Its almost like you are looking to pick a fight with me. I'm not having it.

This thread is in a spirit of being very, very sad for this entire incident and you are nitpicking me???

DON'T f*ck with me. How dare you s**t all over a well-intentioned thread.

^^
That's rather a bold statement from someone who seems to like to drop people then pick up the rear when it suits them.
You might have started this thread, but I don't really think that ayone has exitinguished anybodys nerves yet, topically speaking.
Calm down, enough fires have been started here already, so please tone down your use of language.(For other peoples sakes).

FAYI, Empathy means to feel remorse and sadness for other peoples troubles and plight, and I have some empathy for you.
It doesn't need an upgrade to remind people of that.

The tenants were apparently given citizenship, job offers, housing, had all their physical needs accounted-for. There is even some discussion on taking "extra" housing from the rich, to help the survivors. What more are people supposed to do.

Distinct possibility, but why would they want to do that?

It's not come to that, besides emergency accomodation set up in Lancashire, or so i've heard, and martial law is only available in the States, and some other countries its not something we currently have here operating in the UK.

I'm unsure about the job offers but everything else was accounted for yes, but not comfortable I would have thought, tower blocks are not deemed to be luxury penthouse suites.

Looking at causation is not ignoring the bereaved. It's done so this sort of thing doesn't happen again.

People have to be proactive in crises, and not give in to the point where they don't seek solutions.

Everyone is still looking for solutions. (Usually, at the expense of some other sucker.) Forever looking and looking...

What was supposed to be a high-enough standard of charity, to prevent riots. Be specific.

Also, are you contributing anything, directly. Itemize it, for us, to see.

Lots of these poor, minority-group people would just as soon have 10 of their fellows, sleeping on the carpet. I can tell because of the number of cars parked outside of a single house. At least, that's some kind of loyalty.

Do any white progressives literally practice what they preach.

Are conservatives supposed to do it all, for you, so you don't have to lift a finger?

I just heard it announced that Simon Cowell got together a bunch of artists (singers) that he's worked-with, to make a song for charity (to raise money for the victims, of this fire):
