He should do though. There's no evidence for 'collusion'. It's getting embarrassing now. Beyond it.

I hope Mueller has bodyguards and a plan B.

Maybe Trump should give Mueller an deadline Apprentice style. "Have your investigation wrapped up by the first of june or, you're fired!".

Every responsible Republican has told Trump that if he fires Mueller, that would be the beginning of the end of his Presidency. Trump should heed the ghosts of Richard Nixon and Archibald Cox.

... and we all know that the best way to manage an Ostensible Adult with severe Oppositional Defiant Disorder is to carefully instruct him as to what he absolutely must not do. Works like a charm. Just ask Tillerson and McMaster...

Wouldn't Nixon's outcome have been the same if he hadn't fired Archibald Cox?

The "Saturday Night Massacre" was part of what caused Nixon's demise.

But the main thing---was the "tapes." Nixon, ridiculously, gave the House Judiciary Committee "transcripts," in lieu of providing the actual tapes (which were demanded under subpoena).

Providing the "transcripts" is really what did Nixon in. He, might as well, have provided the actual "tapes."

the difference this time is that the GOP in DC has not one shred of common decency left, they will support The Dotardation to the bitter end, if only because he has dirt on all of them and if he goes down, THEY go down.

What I mean is, what would Trump hope to gain in firing Mueller?

Trump would probably do it out of anger.

He just has this proclivity towards firing people......

Are people afraid if Trump fires Mueller the investigation will end?

Yes, because this is not your father's GOP (or my grandfather's). Nixon's Saturday Night Massacre really was the beginning of the end for him; he was ultimately visited and persuaded to resign, by members of his own political party. That is highly unlikely to happen here and now. Nothing Trump has done has resulted in any real action from any of his... conspecifics. Some grunting and chest thumping, but no real action.
