Italy debt is growing, the government is going to create more deficit, following the prime minister and vice statements: "to get out of the debt, we must invest." (Matteo Salvini, Giuseppe Conte).

Thoughts on that?

As an italian I can say that investing in Italy is like throwing your money in a bottomless pit. (you launch it there hoping one day they will come up in a bucket, there is no certainty that you will get it back)

As an economist myself I can say, Italy government has been saying that for 20 years.
They want to invest in the south and hope it will be able to stand on its own two legs, but this has never been possible. Due to Mafia widely spread in South Italy and corruption widely spread nationally.

What do you guys think?

Which city is worse: Napoli, or Roma?

Oh these two are actually great compared to : Reggio Calabria (Calabria region) Palermo (Sicily region) Also gargano which is in Puglia. There they have 1 blitz of anti-mafia police each week arresting entire families of 30-40 people. Also an homicide each week surrounded by "omertà" (look up on the web)is typical down there.

You would not want to live there/go there without a local guide.

My impression is that "omerta" is the "code of silence" which Mafiosi go by.

They're not supposed to rat on others.

your impression I would say is 50% correct.

What you said is 100% true, but you have to add another rule: civilians never ever see anything.

Not a single real witness is going to break this rule that exist from centuries.

When an homicide, intimidation, bombing takes place, nobody ever saw anything.

Which is why it makes me feel so frustrated living there, I feel like people would not really care about your safety.

What am I even teaching you.

You live in NYC, the city where the most famous undercover agent Action name "Joe Pistone" managed to destroy the 5 biggest italian mafia families there.

Go and watch a documentary about it!

New economical inquiry.

What do you guys think about Italy debt/GDP ratio and why is it so high since the country is the third largest economy of the eurozone, second in manufacturing.
