Prosecutors: Engineer deliberately ran train off tracks in attempt to smash the USNS Mercy

SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An engineer deliberately ran a train off the tracks at high speed near the Port of Los Angeles in an attempt to crash into the USNS Mercy hospital ship, prosecutors say.

The Pacific Harbor Line train derailed Tuesday, running through the end of the track and crashing through barriers, finally coming to rest about 250 yards from the docked naval ship.

Federal prosecutors allege train engineer Eduardo Moreno, 44, of San Pedro intended to hit the ship, saying he thought it was "suspicious" and did not believe "the ship is what they say it's for.'"

The train crashed into a concrete barrier at the end of the track, smashed through a steel barrier and a chain-link fence, slid through one parking lot and then a second lot filled with gravel and hit a second chain-link fence. It came to rest after passing under a ramp leading to the Vincent Thomas Bridge.

People are absolutely justified to be concerned. In my country healthy, young people without pre- existing conditions are dying, a minority yes but even so. Not like flu at all.

Tell that to the young people that are laughing about it and who flout social distancing, while mostly older people are keeling over.
What is wrong with humanity?
A horrible species.

Not all Pepe, not all, but many unfortunately.

I wasn't going to shamelessly say this,
But now that you supplied an incentive.

<clear throat>
Not all humans are the dregs of, errr, humanity,
Just the neurotypical component.

<startled>
What was that!?
I thought I heard a high pitched squealing NT voice in the background! 8O

High pitched squealing NT indeed lol. FYI my aspie lover is begging me to let him visit. Not only is he in my bad books anyway, but here you have a youngish[ b]aspie[b]being selfish and irresponsible......you may put your words in your best Sunday hat and eat them please with the garnish of your choice

Judging by your red hair, I gather you are irresistible. <swoon>
How could a red-blooded aspie resist?
I'll give him a pass, this time.
But tell him not make it a habit, though.

Hang on.
Here's a thought!
Take him to the vet!
That will quiet him down.
No more pathetic squealing.
Problem solved.

Lol irresistable indeed :!:

"Coronavirus: psychologists warn of threat to mental health

People around the world face an increased risk of loneliness, addiction and other mental health issues as a result of new measures designed to protect the public from coronavirus, experts have warned.

Counsellors and psychologists have begun offering online video consultations to help patients cope with the problems associated with isolation, as workplaces are closed and people are urged to stay indoors and avoid meeting others.

Meanwhile, as some face the stress of potentially losing their jobs or having their salaries cut as a result of the crisis, others are dealing with the anxiety of having loved-ones stranded overseas.

Dr Reena Thomas, a clinical psychologist at Medeor Hospital in Dubai, said she had seen a “considerable increase” in mental health issues since the outbreak."

Northern Italy, California and North Eastern China have the worst air pollution in the world, along with odd other individual cities. Japan has one of the lowest levels of air pollution in the world.

But why did you post a statement contradicting me so strongly on such an important point with information that you either made up or hadn't checked at all? :? How is that "responsible" or "considerate of others"? :? :(

Hey, mask experts.
I soak mine in a solution of Lysol for about half an hour then rinse it and let it dry. Will that do?
(Sorry, I don't have the energy to trawl this enormous thread for the answer.)

I am letting it go and advise you to do the same. I am going mad in my quarantine and I obviously do not share your intellectual capacity.

To disinfect it, yes.
I have no idea weather the procedure was damaging to your mask or not, though.

Darmok's news story is most likely connected to EzraS' news story.

I remember my mother telling me about increase in insane people activity about the onset on martial law in 1981 here. Interesting times trigger insanity - more people cross their capacities when something big is going on.

I feel like the Pacific coast region is well on the way to “flattening the curve.” Deaths are certainly not exponentially rising there.

Less than 10% who are tested in this region come out positive.
