Trump’s time in that position of power is running very short. Soon he will likely be DIPOTUS (Double Impeached President of the United States). When he gets the second impeachment from Congress (most likely after Inauguration Day), he will be forever banned from public office in the US. If he was removed by the 25th Amendment immediately or resigns (both highly unlikely), it would not automatically ban him from coming back. What he did this week in office has even his staunchest supporters thinking twice about him. Many of his supporters in Congress changed their minds about contesting the election vote on late Wednesday because of his role in inciting the riot.
After he leaves the White House, he is facing some major criminal charges in at least two states (New York and Georgia). The Georgia charges involves pressuring election officials to corrupt an election and blackmailing elected officials by threat of force. The evidence has been released as a taped one hour phone call earlier this month. The taping of the phone call is not illegal to do in that state, as long as one party knew that they were being taped (the ones doing the taping were the Georgia election officials who just happen to be Republicans).
Those type of criminal convictions cannot be pardoned by the sitting President, as they are state charges, not federal ones. Even if he tries to do a blanket pardon of himself, he has to be found guilty by a court of law first and would have to admit guilt in the process. The state prosecutors have been patiently waiting for him to leave office to charge him with those offenses, just incase he tries to do just that.
