Not "cultural appreciation".

To "appropriate" is to seize something...confiscate..take...steal.


To ME those are one and the same. If I "appreciate" something I will appropriate it. Cultural, or other wise!

But to some extreme White SJWs - I suppose- a White girl with a black hairstyle would be "cultural appropriation".

I dont know if Black BLM members are concerned with that or not. But I doubt it.

I think the social media debate is not so much about her appropriating the hair, it's about whether her mother had a child with a POC

if the daughter happens to be a POC, then I apologize then. I thought she was white. White passing they would call it. But how can you tell? Only way to tell is if you know who their parents are. My cousin's kids are black because their father is black. So my cousin is very sensitive on this issue here about BLM and will reject anyone who is a Trump lover or doesn't support BLM and stuff. This is for her children and it is her duty as a mom to understand black culture and their history and stand up for them to advocate for them and support them.

I'm not sure many people actually get triggered by this kind of thing first hand.

It seems to be more of a "well, someone MIGHT get offended" bit of arse-covering by well-meaning politically correct types in positions of authority, that actually does more harm than good.

Cultural exchange / adaptation / merging isn't exactly new, is it?

It's also largely self-limiting. I know plenty of bohemian, white, weekend Rastafarian types with dreadlocks and a smoking habit. They're welcomed in hippy areas and Jamaican areas but they'd get their arses kicked if anyone tried putting on any fake Jamaican patois. You just don't do that. Adopting someone else's stuff because you like it is fine, actually pretending to be someone and something you're not, becomes offensive (and embarrassing) really quickly.

Funny you should mention that

Well its something of an issue for me as well as my wife and daughter are POC as well. My wife is much more mature/philosophical about identity and never once mentions race. I on the other hand notice this type of thing.

So back to the daugher, her hair suggests she is white passing. My guess is the mother had a acrimonious divorce with POC father and started dating a Nazi out of spite.

This 22 yr old girl was prominently involved in the riots but has now fled Washington.

One thing that the rioters seem to have forgotten is that it illegal to transport certain items (I.e. pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails, etc.) across state lines in the commission of a crime. Those are potential state level charges that they could be charged with.

what needs to be repeated, is that if it was BLM, they'd likely all be dead now. these protesters will probably be getting off for the most part, lightly.

A hint to why the capitol police almost seemed to cooperate with the MAGAs could be the coded signals that were conveyed by cops who were among the MAGA rioters. In addition a lot of MAGAs were wearing "Blue line" logos on their jackets which communicated to the police they are on their side. Contrast that with the BLM marchers who were specifically attacking the police.

If you watch all the videos it would take longer than 2 minutes. And we aren't the ones espousing hate, the rioters however are agents of hate.

it takes a better person than moi to NOT hate those who do hateful things to moi, who are the betrayers of the rest of us.
