California is only 34% white? No wonder the right hates that state

I didn't know about any demographics other than that California has a ton of salty lefties,

But if that 34% white people of California could stay in their sorry state, that would be great.

Please, 34% white people in California! Please do not continue moving into our states- please stay home, sweaty inside your hot home, paying your weekly taxes (is it 34%?)

Article starts a little misleading. The number of white Americans has not decreased, just their percentage of the overall population.

That said, I'm throwing a nice big party when white Americans become less than half of the country. Maybe then the GOP will stop pandering to white nationalists.

Yes, across the western world there's a coordinated right wing backlash. Interesting that Tucker is enamoured with Orban in Hungary who is the first far right leader to run a European country (Bolsanaro doesn't really count as Brasil is a developing country).

Multiculturalism/immigration was a key policy in Trump's rise from billionaire/reality TV to POTUS. It's also a key policy in every conservative government arsenal. It was crucial in the UK's decision to leave the EU via Brexit.

I think at the moment the approach is to maintain the fear and from Charlottesville "the Jews will not replace us" to today we see the rise of the conspiracy of the "great replacement" which according to Vice news has entered the vernacular of all right wing groups in Europe and in all alt-right groups in the US.

The alt-right and their spokesman Tucker Carlson has carefully replaced the words"race" with culture and nation and "us" so as not to arouse suspicion and make it normalised for patriotic Americans to discuss (what they claim) is unregulated demographic change (the great replacement) in bars and BBQs across America.

This will be the platform the new GOP candidate in 2024 will be running with.

I hope that you're aware that Brazil is NOT in Europe.

Sorry to nit pick. I get the gist, and pretty much agree with your post. But this first sentence doesnt make sense.

There is some nuance in that Bolsanaro is European and Brasil is dominated by Europeans (even the Briasiians of brown hue consider themselves Europeans). Many right wingers in Australia consider Bolsanaro a "hero".
But yes the country is a banana republic

The problem with the red states is that their leaders (Abbott, DeSantis, et all) cater specifically to those who think:

This or that derogatory slur is no longer socially acceptable = white Christians are being persecuted

Yet their opponents cannot escape to the blue states because they’ve been priced out of those states. They’re doomed to endure a theocratic dictatorship with heavily restricted voting rights, and where science and regulations are considered “leftist hippie California BS”. Unless they’re rich, there’s no way out.
