In fact Aspergers or not it is very relevant. Go eat some pretzels.

Yes, the issue is relevant, but an asperger's board is not where I choose to get my information. I don't go to a steakhouse to get sports equipment. And I don't go to Seattle to get a Philly Pretzel.

Hi,I didn't stumble as much as it was highlighted on the sidebar of top discussions. But I'd like to take a moment to say that, whatever my agreement or disagreement with your view is irrelevant to my overall point. So I'm offering the following as a constructive criticism:

I'm not looking to censure or prohibit topics, btw. But because of the nature of the forum, I'm more interested in the topic of Aspergers related issues. If you wrote an article or started a thread about the war from an Autistic viewpoint, or if you made some observation relating the two, I'd be more interested or feel it more relevant. But it's not about me, per se: I do think some things are a bit divisive to be much value to a website where the intention is to create a sense of "community." I've seen aspies post that they are atheists, I've seen aspies post that they are Christians, but I haven't seen it become an issue yet of "Christianity is right for aspies" or "atheism is right for aspies..." It's been more of, how those things can affect us as aspies...the war posts you've been writing, well, they seem to push an agenda, one that I don't know is right for a forum for people who already feel separated from the world. It'd be a shame to see it become aspies fighting over the war. Now, if it was under the umbrella of, say, a debate about the war free of the NT influence or biases, that would at least be relevant to the forum (and possibly very instructive about the nature of war regardless of "mental status!" Your current thread, which was very long and included five responses immediately proceding it from yourself make it appear that you're using the forum for a personal agenda; I'd just ask you to consider the "community" aspect of the board, if you're looking for discussion, remember your audience and the give and take nature required. I'm sure I'm not the only one looking to be hit with a sledgehammer of another's viewpoint.

You are correct.

But look at it from my point of view, i have AS, the subjects i post about are one of my "obsessions" (which i would gladly relinquish just as soon as the Iraqi resistance destroy the invading army's), this is an AS website and im posting in the News and current events which is precisely what i am discusing.

Thankyou nevertheless for your exquisitely written piece which i appreciated for its sober sanity and sense. You would be a good person to have around.

No - it belongs in the Politics, Religion, & Philosophy or whatever the crap the third category in that forum is. And I'm saying that as someone who doesn't necessarily disagree with you and read the first 5 or so of the posts in this thread with great interest. It isn't that your post is invalid; it's simply misplaced.

Look at it this way - News and Current Events should be threads in response to news and current events. Like, articles, reports, and nationally documented incidents. Like the thread going on about the child, or a thread in response to "Dubya's" latest mangled speech.

Posting about a political theory, personal political observation (i.e., "Have you noticed that the politicians pushing such-and-such have all in the past displayed blah blah blah..."), or even an ongoing political trend, should be in the Politics Forum, because they are not sparked or centered around a single, recent event.

The point that you are espousing is not that, last week, or last month or whatever, European Imperialism became barbaric, brutal, and unchecked. As you pointed out, the European/American Imperialism, manipulation, and "questionable" ethics go waaaaaaay back - it's just not new. This is why you need to post it in the Politics Forum.

If you post something like this in the News Forum, people are going to be much less likely to treat it with the consideration and respect that it deserves. And, personally, I think it *does* deserve consideration and respect. But people do not come to this forum for that kind of topic and will most likely ignore it, be frustrated by it, or roll their eyes.

Please, please, please post this & topics like it in the Politics Forum! Because I was personally very interested in what you were saying, but I didn't come to this forum to get involved with that kind of thing and, frankly, am not mentally prepared for it. As ASD individuals need to respect their obsessions, they also need to respect their need for structure and routine.

In regard to this topic in particular - can you move it to Politics, or cross-post it in that Forum and make a post in this one directing people to that post?

Ive been meaning to convert my savings to gold for a while now, thanks for the reminder.

Probably go for coins rather than bars - much safer and convienient trading/stashing in small denominations. Although a thin bar would be easiest to break up.

`I disagree, this is obviously Manalitwists "Special Interest" and who is lke an Aspie for having the time and tenacity to really get deep into everything thier is too know about a given subject.

The subject itself may not be appealing to you, so dont read it, but where else can an Aspie get to delight in talking about his interest but on an Aspie board.

You would have to look long and hard to find the information Manalitwists gleaned for us, thanks Dude!

Some of you guys are pretty funny.

The recognition that the entire war is a show of smoke and mirrors and that the terrorists don't even exist, anywhere, is the kind of supercognitive conclusion that you would never expect from anybody but Aspergers sufferers. Ordinary people do not reason independently. They couldn't even if they wanted to with all their hearts. Their brains don't actually function that way, period. Just like they cannot breathe underwater or hear ultrasound.

The entire discussion of the war is so relevant to this forum that you'd think it would be the number one subject.

Did you ever consider that Asperger's Syndrome may in fact be a survival trait during hard times or when human societies enter chaotic periods? No? Lots of psychologists have been suggesting that very thing. There may in fact be a really good reason that every once in a while, mother nature creates people who can think independently of the group and social consensus.

Don't even get me started about "Global Warming." That's truly a neurotypical laugh riot, pure Monty Python skit from start to finish.

... and although your diagnosis of the disease (a declining civilization) is accurate, "manalitwist", your diagnosis of the cause and cure couldn't be farther off into outer space. Western civilization didn't turn the third world into a ravenous hellhole of backward stone-age morons and crude savages. They were like that when we found them. Every good thing that ever happened to them occurred as a result of their contact with that civilization.

I really wish we had signed a receipt for these people when we first met them in our expansion phase so we could write in the margin "Damaged Goods" ... that's what they were. Most of the people we encountered during our colonial eras had never even discovered the wheel or written language and those that had were legendary for never having done a damn thing with that knowledge.

Knew we should have kept hold of the colonies...

Europe stole and plundered the gold, knowledge and blood of other civilizations between the crusades and then at a fast pace with induistrialization and empire building in the 17th - 18th centuries on...up till then they were backwards man of the world excepting possibly Africa.

Be fair. Eastern civilisations had more than a few goes at expanding west. The persians, the mongols etc.

People seem to labour under the belief that white westerners are the only people to ever colonise or enslave anyone. Not true. We simply did it very successfully, most likely due to our industrialised nature and thus more advanced weaponry. Just because we were bloody good at it, doesnt mean we're the only ones who did it.

I thought it was Africa that invented the shoe, the wheel and flying saucers. At least so they claim.

Persia was a great empire when it was inhabited by Indo-Aryans. Later on, not so good. Nowadays, nothing much left except ancient history.

There were more agricultural innovations in the 1200s in Europe than in a thousand years of any recorded civilization that has ever existed.

Funny how other races are always claiming their accomplishments are the result of their own fine inner qualities but once we get to European man it's all about luck and good fortune according to Jared Diamond.

You are right, however - when Iraq was primarily white people it achieved great things. Then it became multicultural. Nothing much since.
