How come I'm the only one who's voted for the victim? :? Yes, those trumpets are irritating as hell, but we're talking about an over excited 14 year old here, not some mass murderer.

I'm not suggesting he was an angel, but I have utterly no sympathy for the neighbour. What a despicable thing to do, just because a kid trespasses on your lawn and annoys you.

I think that shooting the kid, was a horrible thing, to do.

If I lived in a hell hole like South Africa and there was a stranger in my backyard with anything in his hands I would fire a few rounds too. Who knows what some lunatic has planned for you when they just show up. South Africa has a lot of deadly home invasions, car jackings, and rape odds are they were carried out be people the victims did not know.

I think all of us have two opinions. A "real" opinion and a pretend opinion.

My pretend opinion is "if you don't stop blowing that damned thing I am going to stick it up your ......."

In real life I would never do that, but it is amusing to think about it.

Oh wow, a boy walking down the street is blowing his horn.

Surely there's better ways to handle the situation than murder.

It's actually illegal in South Africa to just shoot burglars in your home. The threat has to be real from an objective point of view.

It's really sad but somehow this typical violent behavior does not surprise me. If they had just outlawed and demand that everyone returned the horns weeks earlier when it was discovered how much of a nuisance they would be perhaps this could've all been prevented. Then again whoever concepted the idea of these horns wasnt all that bright in the head. They made a lot of money yes but they left complete chaos in their wake.

I have hyperacusis, but I dont see that as an excuse to kill someone who is being loud. Disgusting.

he was gunned down by a neighbour he says was notorious for his hatred of the noisy plastic horns. ... After the game my son and his friends allegedly went into the neighbour's yard, blowing their vuvuzelas.
So sad teens being deliberately provocative, and a neighbor melting down to a homicidal rage over a sensory-overload.

I REALLY don't agree with how he dealt with the blower but I do sympathize with the neighbour mainly. The father of the teen obviously knew about the neighbour's issue with vuvu-whatsits therefore the teen must have as well. Deliberately going on to someone else's yard blowing the thing is just begging for trouble. I also suffer from hyperacusis and some sounds can literally drive me insane. I expect, given easy access to a gun, I might have lost it enough with at least one person (one of my neighbours) who also provoked me with his loud music on purpose. Again, I am not defending the actions using an illness as an EXCUSE, more as a CAUSE. Thankfully I live in a country where guns aren't allowed or I'd definately be in prison by now... :?

Well I was just about ready to hunt down and shoot Moot for that stunt he pulled on /b/ with the Vuvuzela so I do sympathize with the neighbor.
