"Fred Phelps is obligated to believe that his mother is now gay ... [and] if beliefs are inviolable rights, nobody has the right to challenge our right to believe that Fred Phelps believes that his mother is now gay."

Well much as I dislike the westboro baptist "church", I think that those who want to mock them should let the dead rest in peace. I care not if they dead person was Fred's mum or their biggest critic, the circus of nonsense at the grave site is still deeply wrong.

I think it would be more interesting if Fred's state of mind was discussed in public, I would be interested to know why he is so interested in the sexual orientation of others.

I think the living should be free to grieve in peace, before the dead are allowed to 'rest' in peace.

I'm afraid I don't care why someone would choose this way to run their life.

So...this satanic church makes up a fantasy that fred phelps mom was (or is in the afterlife or something) a lesbian. And then asks us to go along with this fiction in order to somehow fight the westboro church?

That doesnt make any kind of sense to me.

I wouldn't be surprised, but the bikers who show up to push back against the WBC typically don't identify as such. They're just decent people who don't like the WBC's particular brand of hatred and bulls#!t.
