That country is the bane of my existence, even more than North Korea.

It’s like King Salman wakes up every morning and creates new laws just so he can have another excuse to execute people.

Fornication should not be illegal.

This is even worse than that. Everyone knows people are tried and executed under unjust laws in KSA. This is an extrajudicial murder carried out on foreign soil. Can you imagine if they pulled this on US soil?

With Mike Pence waiting in the wings, and these Roy Moore-types wanting theocracy, I can picture it happening.

I can't stand either of them, but you can't compare them to Salafist nutcases - not even for hyperbole. The biggest problem in the US is greed and corruption, not theocracy. Parts of the deep south are kind of scary, but their influence is shrinking with each generation.

once water becomes scarce and wars get fought over it, the US will follow the money there. hopefully, saudi arabia will be left behind and the american elite will finally be able to grow the spine they need to denounce the saudi royals for the disgusting vermin they are.

you can't drink oil. you can't grow food with oil. water is 1000x more important.

of course greed is what keeps a country priding itself on "democracy" and "freedom" tied to an ultraconservative theocratic autocracy. it's all in the elites. most of the citizens hold unfavorable views on the other.

I know he’s been gone for a while, but one guy who made me cringe after reading about him was Jesse Helms.

There was an incident where he, Orrin Hatch, Carol Moseley-Braun were in an elevator and Helms told Hatch “watch me make her cry”. He started singing Dixie (Moseley-Braun is black)

One of my least favorite things about him was that he wanted to abolish the National Endowment for the Arts for no other reason than their decision to fund the works of Robert Mapplethorpe.

He continued to be a far-right blowhard even after George Wallace and Strom Thurmond had stopped.

I hope we never elect any more Jesse Helmseses ever again.

I mostly want to see marijuana and public nudity legalized nationwide. Not even the Dems are supporting making public nudity legal, let alone the GOP :(

Under Trump, America’s humanity has a price.

Quote:
“This took place in Turkey and to the best of our knowledge, Khashoggi is not a United States citizen,” he told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday. “I don’t like stopping massive amounts of money that’s being poured into our country,” referring to his desire to sell $110 billion worth of weapons to Saudi Arabia, adding that “it would not be acceptable to me.”

Trump’s comments just made one thing extremely clear: He cares much more about getting American companies paid than defending human rights. What’s more, he doesn’t care that much about Khashoggi — who heavily criticized the crown prince in the Washington Post — because he is merely a US resident, not citizen...

Trump, it seems, just doesn’t want to risk losing incoming Saudi cash. Beyond the arms deals, Riyadh said it would invest about $20 billion in US infrastructure projects. Trump has consistently promised to rebuild much of America’s crumbling roads, bridges, and airports, but would rather not use much taxpayer money to do so.

If Trump criticizes Riyadh, then, it’s possible the $130 billion Saudi Arabia promised will no longer enter the American economy. No matter that Saudi security officials may have dismembered Khashoggi, or that Riyadh consistently disappears dissidents around the world.

But the real issue is that Trump has never been a champion of human rights. He cozies up to strongmen like Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. He’s escalated America’s involvement in the Saudi-led war in Yemen. He also seems fine with children being put in cages and separating families at the US-Mexico border.

‘It’s not a citizen’: Trump telegraphs a soft line on Jamal Khashoggi -- even as evidence becomes more damning

Quote:
Later on Thursday, Trump repeatedly alluded to the fact that Khashoggi was not a U.S. citizen. “It’s in Turkey, and it’s not a citizen, as I understand it," he said. "But a thing like that shouldn’t happen.” Trump added later: “Again, this took place in Turkey, and to the best of our knowledge, Khashoggi is not a United States citizen. Is that right?” An aide specified that Khashoggi has been a permanent U.S. resident.

Funny how “religious” social conservatives are so tolerant of psychopaths being in positions of power. It’s almost as if it’s a sham to delude the masses into docile servitude of powerful rich psychopaths. The most religious countries are also the places with the most grotesque ruling class opulence and psychopathic cruelty.

Turkish officials are saying he was probably cut in pieces and his body parts were probably transferred in the diplomatic cars leaving the consulate.
I read somewhere that the turkish investigators even investigated the sewage system connected the building and probably found evidence.

US was always an ally with the wahhabism.

While UK was always a friend with Muslim Brotherhood.

The two worst islamist movements ever existed on this planet.
