George Zimmerman sues Trayvon Martin's family

The former Florida neighborhood watchman who was acquitted of killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin seven years ago is suing the dead teenager’s family and others who were involved in the racially charged case that divided the nation for $100 million.

George Zimmerman claims in a lawsuit filed by his lawyer, conservative nonprofit Judicial Watch founder Larry Klayman, that the case against him rested on false evidence and is alleging abuse of civil process and conspiracy.

Specifically, the suit contends that the prosecution’s key witness against Zimmerman at his 2013 murder trial, Rachel Jeantel, was an “imposter and fake witness.”

Benjamin Crump, who is also named in the suit, is the lawyer for Martin’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin. He released a statement that dismissed the lawsuit as “another failed attempt to defend the indefensible and a shameless attempt to profit off the lives and grief of others.”

“This plaintiff continues to display a callous disregard for everyone but himself, revictimizing individuals whose lives were shattered by his own misguided actions,” the statement said. "He would have us believe that he is the innocent victim of a deep conspiracy, despite the complete lack of any credible evidence to support his outlandish claims. This tale defies all logic, and it’s time to close the door on these baseless imaginings.”

Klayman also contends his client was defamed by Crump, who wrote about the case in a new book “Open Season: Legalized Genocide of Colored People.” His publisher, HarperCollins, is also a defendant in the suit. HarperCollins did not immediately return a request for comment Wednesday.

There was also no immediate comment from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement or the State of Florida, who are also listed as defendants in the lawsuit.

There were two things I always got from this case:

1.Zimmerman was a misguided neighborhood watchman.
2. Trayvon Martin was up to no good.

Add the two together and it's a recipe for disaster.

Do I think Zimmerman should reopen this wound? No! What a stupid, selfish thing to do.

Zimmerman is a Puerto Rican jew, if I remember correctly.

Also, there were two Trayvon Martins, one of whom was like twelve and whose photo was circulated as though it was the one who was killed.

All I have to say to George Zimmerman on his lawsuit is "good luck"(thats sarcasm)

If there's a jury that would award him a dime we are all screwed.

I am sure that the swastika tattooed on his forehead will take him far with a jury that has atleast one black, LGBT, etc. That is assuming that the above posted pic is of him. I don't get how a Puerto Rican Jew becomes a white supremacist.

I still think it's pretty f****d up for him to sue the family of his victim for such a ridiculous amount...

I think this Zimmerman guy has something really screwy going on in his head.

Eh, this case was pretty messed up on both sides. Zimmerman was an overzealous neighbourhood watchman who apparently was pursuing a law degree and passing the time reporting the slightest thing to the police (loud parties etc.) who called 911 on Martin walking suspiciously or something and decided to follow him despite being told not to by the 911-operator and also bring his gun. Martin on the other hand was a small-time teen thug already with a criminal and violent history, who probably didn't appreciate Zimmerman following him in the middle of the night. Many, many bad decisions were made.

I do think this story was proof though of how corrupt our news is for twisting the facts and exploiting a tragedy for such a liberally biased political agenda.

Zimmerman is on the record of gloating how he killed Trayvon Martin in a restaurant and has openly threatened to kill celebrity rapper Jay Z for producing a documentary about Trayvon Martin. He has been charged with assault against an ex-girlfriend and has a history of mental instability.

According to the police and prosecuters - The teen (Martin), was unarmed and wearing a hoodie, was returning from a store with Skittles and a drink.

Yep...add the fact he was black in an all white neighbourhood and you gotta agree he's really up to no good.... :roll:
