If things are playing like movies in my head, I'd say I daydream. It sounds like what they thought they knew about the brain is not what they knew or that we are using a different part of our brain to perform that function (which is entirely possible). Sometimes their "studies" make me laugh.

Me too. I can't believe anyhting that takes place in a clinical setting would be anything near to what actually happens in a more natural setting. if they really want to know what's happening inside everyone's brains, then they need to invent some kind of portable scanner that a person can wear while they go about their normal lives - like the Holter monitor used in cardiology.

There were 12 30-second test periods interspersed with three 21-second rest periods, where participants were simply asked to look at a fixed image of a cross.

Yeh, see, that's why.

Meh, don't worry about it.
Human scientists are biased, not focused on their interest like Autista.

Humans are the daydream.

I’m sure people with autism daydream allot and more so then NT’s. But I accept the possibility that our daydreams are asocial, we dream about our special interests intensely, with great focus e.g. Minerals, Busses, Astronomy, Linux or what ever. Such daydreams are asocial and devoid of social emotions etc. Such daydreaming could use different, logical brain centres. NT’s seem to daydream about people, friends, relationships, all sorts of social issues.

I was going to write something very similar to that effect. I never daydream about relationships for instance, but I may daydream about things like astronomy and natural disasters and often daydream the same thing repetitively like I am stuck in a loop. I am sure very few NT's do that. Maybe while I am daydreaming like I am stuck on a loop I just happen to be activating a much small part of my brain and retrieving the same memory over and over again which may scarcely show up on the FMRI images. And that could lead to the impression I am not daydreaming at all.

Drives me crazy. Sometimes I tell myself to shutup when people are around. (hahahaha, boy do they back away quick. )

I review scientific documents, and I can say with confidence that data is sometimes flawed and worthless. One problem is that theory is treated like fact. I think thats whats happening here. Neurologists dont have a clue as to the inner workings of the autistic brain, yet they continue to try and evaluate it by comparing it to "normal functioning" processes. But they dont understand normal neurological functions either.
