is it ok to ban the hijab??
One year I got made up as death. I bought a knarly costume and made my face up in white & black skull design. I tried going to the grocery store for some quick supplies, forgetting I had the hood and full face makeup on. My identity was completely concealed and you could have never guessed it was me under the disguise. The police officer, who was on guard at this store because the management hires officers due to a string of robberies, he demands that I pull the hood off so that he can see any identifyanle part of my face. Turns out, he says, that there's a law here in Tennessee that states no person can permanenttly conceal their face while in businesses. The cameras must be able to see your face.
You know, in the interests of human freedom, which few people seem to be interested in, how about making it an offense only if the person actually commits a crime? I am extremely sick of the so-called law and so-called law enforcement right now, and simply concealing your identity should not be a crime if you are not doing anything else that is criminal.
That actually makes sense, particulary on days like....Halloween.

Could you rephrase that please?

Ok, sorry to interrupt the halloween costume debate, but here’s my twopenniesworth on the hijab …
My concern is that the whole question of whether or not to ban the hijab is something of a distraction from the sort of questions the native Britons should be asking. The establishment are surely quite happy to see time taken up with such trivial questions. The implication of such a question is that, as long as the native Britons don’t find immigrants’ clothing too unusual, they should continue to celebrate their own dispossession.
Think about it. Imagine you had a time machine, and you travelled forward in time to, say, Thailand. What would you think if you found that all the people there were white, with blond hair and blue eyes? You might wonder why an entire people, the Thais, had disappeared off the face of the earth. What difference would it make if the new inhabitants ate green curry and had little Buddha statues in their homes?
But surely the Thais would never let this happen. They can happily trade with their neighbours, and welcome tourists with open arms, and have small minority populations living within their borders, but surely they could never be suicidal enough to invite and celebrate their own dispossession. This is simply human nature, free from the poisoning effects of modern liberalism.
Britain has about 50 million indigenous people. The population of the earth is 6 billion. Britain’s Labour government has explicitly said there is no limit to the amount of people they’re going to let into the country. They know what the end result will be – the disappearance of the indigenous Britons themselves. That is the end they seek. They are doing this for political reasons; there is no economic necessity. They are one-worlders. In their minds, the very things that separates Britain from the rest of the world – the main one being the distinctiveness of its indigenous people – must be destroyed.
I’m tempted to say let Muslims wear the hijab. Let them wear the burka. It might help to wake the native Britons up. If they see women walking around in hijabs and burkas, if they’re woken up by the muezzin's call to prayer every morning, if their children are made to recite the Koran in school, if they are made to feel like foreigners in their ancestral homeland, they might start to at last understand that they themselves are a people. The native Britons might at last realise that “British culture” is not just built on vague abstractions like “tolerance”, but is a function of the racial characteristics of the British people themselves. They might realise that the social cohesion that comes naturally in ethnically homogenous areas cannot be magically reproduced in ethnically mixed areas through simply educating people about what Ramadan and Diwali and Hanukkah are. They might at last realise that as a people they have as much right to defend their interests as any other people. And they might at last realise that as native Britons, if they're not lucky enough to work in the state-sponsored diversity industry or for one of the main three political parties, in the eyes of the liberal elite they can either celebrate their impending minority status or go to hell.
Native Britons whining about "political correctness gone mad" when their jobs are moved to "more diverse" parts of the country will not stop our liberal masters from doing the same sorts of things over and over and over again.
The question of whether the wearing of the hijab is actually a requirement of the Islamic religion is again a trivial one. There is no good reason why Britain should make any concessions to Islam at all.
Perhaps most people in this country need to experience the Third World visiting their neighbourhood before they will see what’s going on. If there was any justice, it would be the members of the liberal elite who would be the first to suffer instead of the ordinary people they so despise.
The posts on here are disgusting.... We live in a free society, and I am sickened by the fact that people think we should force people to dress a certain way just to make people "exactly like us Americans." I'm just sickened. Wear what you want, so long as you aren't hurting anyone, ascan. I'm Muslim btw, so I'll have you know your comments have angered me.
The bigotry in this thread is making my brain bleed.
Anyway, no, it's not okay to ban the hijab because for some muslims it's part of their religion. In America that's unconstitutional.
