I am curious

If "Hamas activities cannot sensibly exclude related discussion of Palestine/Palestinians"
But at the same time - "HAMAS and Palestinians are two distinct entities"

Then I assume the correct narrative here is that Palestinians are to be considered victims of HAMAS

This thread is about one specific HAMAS activity on Oct 7 but then isn't it logical to ask who does HAMAS comprise?
Is it also not logical to also ask why "some" Palestinian civilians" both in the Gaza and overseas were filmed celebrating the terrorist attack on Oct 7 virtually within 24hrs of the attack?

Next - Does HAMAS represent all Palestinians? clearly the answer is no but then isn't it reasonable to ask how widespread is support for HAMAS in Gaza?

Wouldn't that be crucial information for both the international community and the IDF?

Once you have this information then you can look at the historic contributing factors for the rise of HAMAS. But is this entirely Israel's fault?

I am yet to actually see one coherent and reasonable alternative strategy to Israel opting for a military option (which by the way even traditionally pro-Palestinian publications admit Israel has no choice).

There are plenty of loose ends here

I don't know where you plucked that one from, given "A thread about Hamas activities cannot sensibly exclude related discussion of Palestine/Palestinians, and for anyone having difficulty with separating "Hamas" and "Palestinians" - they're two distinct entities with some crossover."

I thought these things had already been raised and asked here. :?

The IDF has what the IDF has, and it's unlikely to publish much of it for operational reasons.

Has it been proposed here that Israel is entirely at fault?
I know it's been said that the Hamas attack on Israeli civilians didn't happen in a vacuum, and there's a long history of animosity in the region. Maybe useful information could be gleaned from that too?

Speaking personally, I'd rest a little easier if Israel would stop bombing the crap out of Gaza and killing thousands of civilians in the process.

Without presenting evidence, the oft-used claim "It was sheltering a Hamas outpost/command center/whatever" seems to be wearing a little thin when balanced against the deaths vs. tangible measurement of a diminished Hamas.

So many points have been covered over and over in this thread with appropriate links and all. Cyberdad, maybe you would want to reread this thread carefully, including linked sources, rather than bring up the same questions that have already been responded to numerous times

Sorry. Have not been keeping track of this thread, so whatI share has nothing to do with the conversations you are having, but when looking at youtube I saw this and think it may be relevent to this thread, if no one else has already shared this before. Appologies if someone has. Are such heavy rainstorms common in that area? Or could it be God? Or could it be weather weapons?

^ Wow! That's some impressive looking lightning. I gave up watching the whole video when it started talking war.

Anyone who thinks this is God's work is smoking some serious dank weed that needs to be shared with me :jester:

If it’s God, he needs to get his priorities straight.

In all seriousness, it’s just rain and storms.

I was ammending it as you replied. Do you think it could be weather weapons? Or are such storms natural over there? But if so, why risk building tunnels?
I think such storms like that have to be very rare because otherwize some of the caves where they found manuscripts such as the Dead Sea Scrolls and others wpuld have been flooded out so the manuscripts would not survive. I realize they were found in jars, but they can only do so much.
If it is common, then I assume it must be like India where they have monsoons?

It’s apparently the rainy season there.

*puts on tin foil hat* Anything's possible, there are projects out there that attempt to control the weather. * Removes tin foil hat*

I am just systematically going through the proper way of presenting information as this topic is a minefield.

Yeah so the crossover bit is what everyone is getting heated over. Quite evidently the IDF find it easier to assume the crossover is widespread when making their way through Gaza, I am sure US troops going through Iraq or Afghanistan had to assume every villager could be carrying concealed weapons or that every road or footpath could be hiding a land mine.

For NGOs stationed in Palestine they prefer to see the crossover as one tiny extreme element not representing the aspirations of the wider Palestinian community whom they are assisting on the ground.

On the other hand, the Palestinian Authority (who do represent Palestinians) are spreading dangerous false lies about October 7 that HAMAS are innocent and that Israelis bombed Jewish civilians.
https://www.ynetnews.com/article/h1nngcpnp

Wait, I thought The Palestinians and HAMAS are two separate entities?

Israeli's are not the IDF or Likud.

Rashida Talib was born in the US, to Palestinian immigrants. Even one generation removed, with all the education at her disposal, representing a country that considers itself capable of separating terrorist groups from hapless, innocent citizens from war torn regions, was censured. She's just the most well known here in the US, working in a Liberal led government. Whether she said, or was known to be in attendance with others who chanted, "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," seems a topic for debate.

I'd love to meet up with Palestinians who could dispel my belief that you can remove a non-HAMAS Palestinian from Gaza, but you cannot remove HAMAS sympathizing from the Palestinian.

Don't believe it... I saw too much glee after October 7th, from people who no longer lived there, to ever believe that it wasn't espoused by the people who still do.
