This just in...
I've been handed a bulletin regarding some late breaking news.
Archeologists have just unearthed a remarkable discovery near a Mayan temple. They say they have discovered many carvings which suggest the Mayans invented the practical joke. They report carvings depicting Mayan workers giving a sleepy stone carver a hot foot, emptying salt shakers to put in sugar, and most remarkable of all, Mayan workers naughtily placing a bucket of water over the door of temple to fall when a priest opened it!! The archeologists are in the process of translating the various inscriptions, but they report that they have translated one which indicates that even as their culture was dying out, they decided to give the world one last practical joke to remember them by.
You may all be relieved to hear that tomorrow will proceed as normal .....
And now back to regularly scheduled programming.

Reminds me of the imagination land South Park episode where they went to Hollywood writers for help after terrorists attacked and the writer says "What if everyone thinks the terrorists attacked but we were already dead?"

For Tallyman's benefit: It's Marvin the Martian: "Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth shattering kaboom!"

Yeah, no earth-shattering kaboom, but hey, it's not like it's the end of the world, right?

There's always 2029, when Skynet sends the Terminator back for Connor... (Actually discussed in Shatner's Weird or What episode today!)

There is also a sizable earth orbit crossing asteroid making a close fly by at that time.

Earth Orbit Crossing bodies of significant mass are not bs. When one hits us, it will be for real and if it does come while our science is still viable we will know the day, the hour and the place where such a celestial body will hit.

Celestial Body orbits are not New Age Hippy Dippy Crap. The are calculated using Celestial Mechanics which is one of the most solid well established of the physical sciences.

ROFL. I suppose if the date had been April 1 that would have been too obvious. :D
