12 is of course mentioned quite a lot (187 times) in the new testament bible which makes it an important number in numerology

Revelation alone has 22 occurrences of the number. The meaning of 12, which is considered a perfect number, is that it symbolizes God's power and authority, as well as serving as a perfect governmental foundation. It can also symbolize completeness or the nation of Israel as a whole. For example, Jacob (Israel) had twelve sons, each of which represented a tribe begun by a prince, for 12 princes total. In addition societies living with 4 seasons (summer, autumn, winter and spring) will notice there are lunar cycles that are 30 days and these cover 12 cycles over the 4 seasons so 12 is a magic number

Any sequence of numbers can be linked to the Bible.

That theory about the "12 days of Christmas" is probably someone's after thought interpretation, and not the original song writer's intent.
