I have a loose hypothesis that in difficult times some people want to believe in something different, bigger, ostensibly better. In the US in the 70s there were a LOT of cults and people leaving their homes to join alternative communities where things felt different from the chaos and turmoil of the real world. QAnon is like online Jamestown!

Frankly, I do not understand QAnon.
I can’t comprehend if they are a closed group primarily focused on controlling their members, or if they are trying to change the world to their beliefs.

Malavois means JONEStown, a place in Guyana where Jim Jones made about 900 people commit suicide by drinking tainted Kool-Aid back about 1978-1979.

People who think coronavirus is a hoax, or really what's being claimed about it is a hoax, are the kind people who won't drink the kool-aid.

The point is nobody seems to really care about things that cause hundreds of thousands and tens of thousands of deaths per year, compared to the reaction to covid.

Unlike CoViD, the other causes of death aren't contagious.

Contagion means that we'll probably have a lot MORE deaths from CoViD very soon, thanks to all the non-mask-wearers out there.

Most of the other causes of death are also not as preventable as a rapid spread of CoViD would be, were it not for the anti-mask folks.

Why weren't you concerned about mask wearing in 2017-18 when 80,000 people caught and died from the Flu?

The reason why is because you weren't told to care or to worry or to wear a mask.

And when they tell you to stop wearing a mask, you will stop thinking they are important.

Each year, there is a campaign calling people to take flu vaccine.

During the 2018-2019 season, 62.6% of children between six months and 17 years got a flu shot. Among adults, 45.3% of people got vaccines.

It doesn't look like people were told to take it seriously enough then.

Every year, where I work, we either supply proof of having gotten a flu shot, or we MUST work with a surgical mask on.
Until now.
This year, we MUST provide proof of a flu shot, or be removed from the work schedule.
And we are already working with masks on, NO exceptions.
