That is what that American Evangelist Pat Roberton said. He is quoted as saying that the Haitians sold their souls to the devil when they took over the country 200 years ago and are just getting what they deserve. What an evil thing to say.

As for Haiti, I don't see how they can recover from this.

It may seem in poor taste to discourage being emotionally invested in the disaster in Haiti, but this is not a save-Haiti discussion forum, this is an autism and asperger's syndrome discussion forum. Many people with AS suffer constantly and the people around them often don't care and have no sympathy whatsoever, so it is to be expected that maybe some of us are not inclined to care so much about the suffering of unknown people in far-off countries. All kinds of people in so-called first-world countries suffer a great deal, they have problems that people from other places do not have deal with, just because there isn't spectacular mountains of rubble and dead bodies to physically illustrate it doesn't mean they necessarily suffer less. Everyone has more than enough problems of their own to worry about. If someone wants to actively help Haitians, that's awesome, they can go do that. Other people spend their time helping the needy in other country, or helping animals. There is only so much someone can fit onto their plate.

Individuals can respond to disasters in remote countries whichever way they feel like, screw this politically-correct crap.

Another perspective topic

Some people are sick of it--but that is a small minority. And if people do not care, then this is a choice made.

I am not--I have been following events and see an improvement.

This is what war should be all about--helping those who have suffered, and to make the world a better place. 8)

Well said Blue Mage thanks. :-) IMO if it happens in FL/TN (where relatives are) then I'll be slightly concerned otherwise I'm neutral I guess. :-) Thanks again!! :-)

I feel that if you are in a position to make a donation for the help effort, you should.
It's just a shame how the human animal will bear it's teeth even after tragedy has struck. Actual fights are breaking out there over food lines. I surprised that people would have the energy to even fight after something like that.

Well RightGalaxy I've been interested in End of the World Documentaries lately and with what Katrina showed people go back to primal behaviors kill or be killed DO WHATEVER it takes to feed your family etc. IMO Doomsday behavior (would be an awesome Psychology study) LOL!

I think it's good that we AS also emphatise with the suffering in Haiti, we're talking about a whole country collapsing. We only hope countries will see opportunities in this devastation and help whenever we can. :)

I think it's quite a dissaster to one country. Fifty thousand is a big number of deaths. Those poor children are going to have it hard for a while.

Perhaps it's an opportunity for Haitians to reorganize their education system... to ensure good and fair opportunities to all and to enable them to face challenges in life, as well as life and employment skills for the future!

When a disaster like this randomly strikes a place where there was an inordinate amount of suffering to begin with, it's practically incomprehensible.

No wonder people are emotionally shutting down and "getting sick of it". If you stop and think about a disaster like this, it is overwhelming - too much to bear for a lot of people. 8O

Good point here. Fortunately I didn't plank on the money to buy that. I need to donate to YELE or maybe WrongPlanet first if I can.

Unfortunately improvements will not come fast enough and Haiti could become a breeding ground for a new crop of terrorists.

Tony the Tiger- yes, what you said was very rude, and nasty. I was afraid something like this would happen on this sight. :x
