Ok, ZachL and leejosepho, no need to be throwing around accusations. You both need to calm down. There's no need to be crying "troll" when the both of you are perfectly capable of intelligent, logical conversation.

And ZachL, perhaps it would benefit us all if you explained a bit more about what's going on here. All I heard was that the blog was going to give away money to help benefit WP. Do you have any more details you can tell us?

Ok, that's cool. I'm not attacking you BTW, just trying to calm you down, the conversation with leejosepho earlier was getting a little heated.

@everyone else: Basically from what I read, the owner of the blog on AspieWeb is going to donate 25% of the site's profits for this month to one of three autism organizations: us, the ASAN, or the Autism Women's Network. Who gets the money will be decided by the AspieWeb readers using a vote. Then he's going to do it again next month with three other organizations. It's pretty much identical to the Refresh Everything contest sponsored by Pepsi Co, only on a smaller scale.

Also, we should probably decide what the money should go for as a group. Perhaps we can get another server upgrade? Probably won't be near enough, but it's worth a shot.

There is certainly nothing wrong with that, and I have not questioned any such intention.



Pepsi Co raises funds for itself by promising a percentage to others? Possibly so, and possibly as part of its overall advertising ... and therein lies the problem here. This thread might only be intended as an announcement or report of what "the owner of the blog on AspieWeb" has said will be done with a percentage of proceeds received, yet it nevertheless looks and smells like someone making a percentage promise in order to increase income ... and that leaves the door open for anyone to come here and get free publicity for whatever kind of fundraiser as long as at least some of the proceeds are promised to WP?!



We can all be assured that is not even a possibility. Coming here to this forum is like all of us simply getting together for some discussion in a large room in Alex' house, and we have nothing to say about how he spends the voluntary contributions some folks are able to make to help cover his expenses made on our behalf.

I think it is fine that "the owner of the blog on AspieWeb" intends to contribute toward WP, and now that no moderator has done anything about this thread ...

Maybe I actually *am* wrong, and maybe it actually *is* okay for anyone wanting free fundraising publicity to come here and make a similar promise? If so, maybe Autism Speaks will be next even if the percentage might be a bit lower ...

Apparently some members are coming back after three mods were fired. Those who had a bad repuation about them. Things have changed so some think they can troll or act up on here as if they think they won't get banned again. I am not saying that is what Zach is doing.

I remember when he was first here on his account TheZach, and he developed a vendetta against Alex for asking for donations to help this site, claiming that Alex must make public what he does with the money or whatever (which was funny as Zach probably never donated a cent and therefore was in no position to sqwawk about it).
Then he continues on his vendetta by trying to sue WP.
AND THEN!! He comes back as AspieFireman looking for support and help here with his suicide crisis. No disrespect for the hard time he had, but having the hide to ask for help here?? of all places?? He didn't deserve to, not after he tried to stop 30,000+ others here from getting similar help by suing WP and trying to get it shut down.

That's why I don't get this. He's suing WP one minute and throwing money at it the next??

We each have our own struggles in life, and we each only do what we believe might help.
