It's absurd to blame liberals for this. The democrats are worthless. We don't have a democracy.

Y'know, before the DMCA media conglomerates were not suing children and dead people. Then it came along and gave those trade groups obscene amounts of power far beyond the realm of common sense and copyright protection. Do we really need another round of this America?

Quote:
It's only net neutrality which allows non-commercial low-traffic sites like this one to remain viable.

It's hardly "in the dark of night" after all the discussion for years.

It's no "power grab" as what it does it prevent commercial power grabs. It does nothing for Democrats or gov't in particular.

This thread is about COICA.

I'm actually surprised any Republican went along with this, I'd say send a lot of e-mail to the Republican Senators.

Say if they vote to let this get past a fillabuster when they are next up for reelection you will support whomever versus them in the primaries.

No, it fits nicely with the corporate agenda.

In their case, it's not so much censorship as it is the destruction of net neutrality laws.

The law is for "net neutrality." Let me break this down for you.

Any proposal by the Democrats like: "net neutrality" and "fairness doctrine." Are really censorship doctrines to stifle free speech. That means any conservative voice as well as anyone that is pro-republican.

For all Democrats claim they are for freedom, they are actually the party that usually tries to take freedoms away.

Both parties are equally fond of stripping us of our constitutional and inherent human rights. The Democrats are just better at hiding it.

We already have internet censorship in the UK. Now you're next. Free speech is dead. Deal with it, my American friends.

Unlike the supposed rights you have in the UK, ours are written down in a document called the Constitution. Assuming no one in the Supreme Court dies, this will probably be struck down.

Ours are written in EU directives and rights acts, but at the end of the day, documents get ignored all time, especially legal documents and especially by the government.

Which is the reason why Conservatives want limited Government. However, this net censorship is wanted by Obama whom has managed to tick off the swing vote in the Court and all the Conservative Justices. It will be a 5 to 4 decision, but the net censorship would be thrown out just like it was before.

Here's to hoping you're right, the less censorship the better I say.

Another possibility is the new house of representatives would just defund the FCC, which is a distinct possibility.

Most conservatives seem to want a small but very powerful government to put the people in their place and outlaw any civil liberties they deem unnecessary to economic productivity and the rule of the elite.

It would be nice if either major party was for a small, restricted government, but I doubt anyone will ever try to elect a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. I'm starting to think we'd be better off without one at all.

Then why are conservatives pro-gun rights? Seems kinda counterproductive to want to be tyranical to a population that is armed to the teeth.

We may have actually started to elect people that actually represent us in 2010.

1. You figure the pro-gun conservatives are going to be fiercely loyal to whatever the government says and will do its bidding.
2. I highly doubt that. These new elected officials will quickly bend and fold to their corporate masters. Rand Paul is a total sellout, and a lot of the fellow freshmen look like puppets to the establishment.
