I'm starting to see that one creep into PPR as well - ie. if any evil ever happened in a particular country then by all means its emblematic of that country's values. Looking into any country on earth you can find grime by the bucketload, then again its probaly why drive-by-media loves the tarring approach; its so damn easy to do and you get a lot of effect out of a big intellectual shortcut.

You don't have to look far to find examples of human evil.

It's not an argument it's an opinion. I'm not even saying I'm right.
No offence, but an opinion can still contain an argument. I wasn't making a dig. It was anecdotal.

I don't mean a yak yak argument. I mean a this is true, that is true argument.

This does speak volumes about how you view what communication is for.
What? For transmitting ideas? Personal enjoyment? That sort of thing? Well yeah, most people do. As for the allusion being made I regret to inform you that you are focusing on the wrong definition of the word argument.

I'm not even sure what the purpose of your post is. If you disagree, then do so?
I thought the disagreement was implied when I explained why I disagreed with it and said nothing else. That's what Nt's do right? Verbal shorthand as it were.

Respectfully to both of you, if you don't like my opinion, you don't have to agree. No problem.
And if we don't agree, we'll tell you why. Or is that not intuitive enough for you?

You don't have to put everything in such an abrasive way.

I recognise it's a personal style with you, but I find you most impolite.

Your initial comment appeared to be a somewhat passive agressive jab. Knowing your form, how could I see it otherwise?

Your second comment has a deliberately goading tone.

If that's not deliberate then perhaps you could be more careful about how you communicate in future.

Do not derail this thread by turning it into another personal argument. I'm not Zeraeph. PM me if you want to discuss how you can communicate more effectively.

I just said it was an argument from incredulity. I didn't even say you were wrong or say anything bad. I either communicate how you were wrong or say nothing. Style had nothing to do with it.

I said an argument from incredulity and you misread the word argument to mean a definition more negative than it was. I'll be fine.

SOPA is BS, but it's unlikely to get through, at least in its current form.

If it does, then I expect YouTube, Tumblr, and any other sites that would be hurt by it will simply move their hosting elsewhere. Most big sites already use a "cloud" hosting service, so simply telling their provider not to let their site use cloud space inside the US would sort it, assuming that provider has servers abroad. Amazon's cloud hosting is the most popular, so it'd be in their interest to set up data farms around the world if this passes in its current form.

I don't think piracy is the reason this is being pushed.

No, SOPA is aimed at foreign websites.

By the way, 'sopa' is slang in Swedish for someone who is found/claimed to be useless, and told this/described as such in an offensive manner, with the use of that very negative word. Coincidence?

I thought they already did with YT and the news media. YT hasn't gone corrupt yet but I think it's heading in that direction. As for the media, anymore I go to other sources that aren't American. Fox News is a joke.
